No.

There is no way of scoping the size of your issue… we don’t know how big your shed is…!

It ain’t the size of the shed, it’s the creativity of the storage! Begs a few questions though….!?

what does norton mean now/today?

I think it means that Bevelhead has bumped into a few blokes that did’nt know that Norton Birmingham are in business and building Norton motorcycles again - in the UK.

These guys must not read any bike press - digital or print media, blogs, monitor YouTube or maintain an understanding of what’s happening in the bike market.

The relaunch has been covered extensively over the last few years. I’d be very surprised if the majority of British bikers were wandering around oblivious to this. I guess there’ll be another push when new bikes are released.

Mmmmmmmmm! This is a bit worrying to me. If Norton wanted to maximise the number of attendees at their NEC stand you would think they’d hint at the opportunity to see new models - if they intended to show them? Hope I’m overthinking!

From a recent interview with TVS MD

....
Now, though, it looks like Norton is seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The firm hosted a presentation at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, where senior figures outlined plans for the road ahead, including a pledge for six all-new models in three years, starting in 2025, and an expanded global distribution network targeting the US, Germany, France, Italy and India. TVS has also earmarked £200m for product development, R&D, expanded facilities and new engineering technology.

Addressing Festival of Speed attendees, Sudarshan Venu, managing director at Norton parent company TVS, said: “Our vision, commitment, and investment in the Norton Motorcycles brand are entering an exciting phase. We look forward to sharing that with motorcyclists across the world.”

Norton’s newly appointed executive director, Richard Arnold, went on to discuss the future of the brand, including its stance on the world stage. “Norton’s heritage is vast and plays a key part in our development as a global brand,” he said. “It’s important for us to prioritise our customers, both in the present and the future, not only with new bikes but also with every touch point of the Norton experience. The products currently in testing and development are incredibly exciting. Bikers around the world will love to ride them and love to own them.

“I am looking forward to expanding their availability to dealers in new territories and connecting with bikers to share the Norton journey.”

Nothing really new there. The ‘first new bikes in 25’ has been stated for some time now, so I don’t think we were expecting to see them in 24. We were hoping to see prototypes though.

Would they advertise if they intended to show any prototypes - I don’t know, but maybe not. They have kept any real detail very close to the chest for reasons discussed. We’ll know soon enough I suppose.

I think that given all the fanfare last year around the exciting new things they were gonna show at the NEC… which turned out to be 4 new paint schemes… I would put money on them making a lot of noise if they were intending to show anything really new at the NEC this year.

Dr. Bob had better deliver the goods this time.

Very disappointing if they don’t show us a prototype (or two). Not sure they have ever stated that they would though - before the bikes are ready for production.

Nothing new I suppose - as we’ve noted before, most manufacturers go to great lengths to hide new bikes until they are ready for production. We’ve all seen pictures of matt black bikes caught on camera being test ridden.

A mistake? Will potential buyers lose interest? Difficult to tell but I suspect not given they’ve been pretty clear about the 2025 target. Some maybe - but in the scheme of things……..?

I guess not everyone interested has been watching every minute move modern Norton has made since March 2010, like we ageing agitators - (over) analysing every move? I’m pretty sure that there are normal people out there🤣!!

At least someone’s optimistic
Realistic I think. If Norton produce some great new bikes next year, that are attractive to the buyer, at a price that meets whatever market they’re aimed at then no doubt they’ll sell.

I doubt how long people have waited for them will matter very much at all.

I cannot recall the exact words used in all the interviews, but I think the way we have all read them is that some new bikes will on sale in ‘25.

Manufacturers use the shows taking place in Nov and Dec to unveil their following year model ranges.

Hence the expectation that Norton would have SOMETHING to show at the shows in ‘24.

Whether this is right or wrong, it is definitely a reasonable assumption and expectation.

And whichever way you spin it, it will be a pretty shit affair if Norton turn up for YET ANOTHER year with nothing new to show…

Yep, I guess we’ll all be a bit frustrated if they don’t show us something (prototype) this year. That said, I’m not sure we on this (echo chamber of a) site have the most balanced of views sometimes. Nor do I think we easily seperate frustrations accumulated in the Garner years from what’s happening currently.

Bottom line for me - how can we here conclude that it’s unnaceptoble that Norton has taken this long to deliver new bikes, when we don’t even know what those bikes are? The sports bike was described as “think Ducati V4’. How long does it take to develop such a machine? From concept to completion? With whatever constraints may be in play?

My guess is if it were possible to deliver them earlier then they would. They’re holding news back for a reason - who knows whether this is the right approach or not. We have no information.

The Buell comparison doesn’t hold water Voodoo, we’ve discussed that at length. Their new machines are based heavily on previous models. Not completely new machines.
