What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Went to the CVMg X-mas party last evening . There was a video on-screen of 4 guys flailing away on a freshly rebuilt Blue Interstate with no fuel in the bowls . Gas cap opened , fuel now in bowls , tickled , starts up with one final kick . Lots of good food and peoples .
I won a door prize , one of 10 prizes . The box of YingLing beer went first ( darn it ) then 2 liquor store certificates , then my turn for a $100 , a bike shop way up north . Seems it's a service shop , not really parts or liquids vendor . Seeing as I do all Commando work myself , I'm thinking what could they do for me really ? I have a new tire here .

Just enough for a bottle of oil lol.

Got the stainless gaiter ties from Ingerland and put them on. A nice finishing touch I reckon.

Stevo, Moron that I am, just punched in Ingerland to see where they are located!
Could you let me know where and what size that you purchased?
Thanks,
Mike

fusey boxey thingy please .
This is it. I considered using one of the really expensive and complex units, but this little thing provided everything that was needed at a bargain price.
It's very well made. Labels for Bilge Pumps 1 and 2 are included. A bilge pump could come in handy on a wet sumping Norton!

😂 Mike, that spelling was just my little joke as I think you discovered. Could only find them in one size on eBay.co.uk from Classic BIke Shop, good price but shipping ridiculous. Item #333181328534.

Edit
Other styles are available here, depends what type is preferred.

Took the left side panel off to measure voltage leakdown for this thread..

But I vow I'm going to do something about the shitty arrangement which holds the cover on. It took 15 minutes to trying to locate the tip of the dzuz fastener in the semi dark, whilst scratching the frame in the process. Grrrrrrr...

God knows what you'd do if you had to do that on the side of the road.

God knew when we blew a fuse and that cover had to come off in heavy North Ont. truck traffic . Replaced later with a creative easy to unscrew arrangement using a short flathead screwdriver carried in the tool pouch .

I rode my Norton to Alice's Restaurant, where the Nor Cal Norton Club was volunteering to pick up trash along the road, Then we all had late breakfast/early lunch. Nor Cal has a monthly ride schedule and picks up trash 3-4 times a year. If people want to see the schedule I will post it.

I won another door prize a day later . Salmonella , from the cantaloupe ( Mexico ) fruit party tray . Toronto Public health has been notified and I opened a case file . 3 others are down with Salmonella poisonings according to the club conversations and questions to members ..

Today we are up to 5 CVMG club members / wives ill with Salmonella poisonings . Don't eat cantaloupe from Mexico . Full stop on that .

I wouldn't eat the watermelon from Mexico either. A lot of places in Mexico do not have clean drinking water for humans so you can imagine what gets used for crop irrigation. Sewage and worse.

If he is attending, please say hello to Terry Gower for me.

Is the grocery store still across the road with a parking lot full of motorcycles on any Sunday?

This won't mean much to anyone, but Randy Mamola used to come up there in various high zoot European cars (Lamborghini and such) on Sunday in the early hours during the off season. He didn't stick around too long, but it was cool for GP race fans.

The grocery store parking lot across the street from Alice's was a first stop on the way over to Duarte's for breakfast. Ran with an early group back then. Nutty but fun times. Only did it a couple of times on a Norton. Not enough front brake to keep up with the 916's back then.

Not in California anymore. Good to know the NOC is trying to keep the trash thrown out of kid's car windows down.

We have quite a few members here in the big GTA , but if I meet him I'll say hi on your behalf . Today I was riding the MK 111 in + 5 C. , mid December . Flooded both carbs , hit the starter and she fired right up immediately . Nothing ambitious , only local spins on freak warm days .

Lots of bikes Saturday AND Sunday. Grocery store and gas station on the left going South, Alice's Restaurant and gas station on the right.

Terry did much of the restoration of my 650ss which Herb Becker donated to the CVMG as a project in 1999.
Other CVMG members worked on it as well. Ross Thompson looked after the metal finishing. Herb Becker rebuilt the head, including some port reshaping.
