What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

The fairing that has been previously suggested for this is the Thruxton R fairing. It would look good on the 961, provided it fit properly.
Now that fairing is a very pretty little piece, styled after the Triumph Thruxton race fairing from 1965, only made prettier by someone in that group of 50 Brits who , we are told, were responsible for the bike's design.

Part of what makes it look good is the perfect fit to the tank. A lot of fairings are Universal fit, one size fits everything, but nothing properly.
The Triumph fairing blends right into the curve of the Thruxton tank, which is fairly slender, even at the wide point where the fairing comes in.
The nice fit is not going to happen with that big wide Norton tank. So a custom tank is a starting point for fitting that fairing.
I'm four days in on this one, Thruxton R top shape, original Norton Commando bottom.
Fun!

Fascinating!
The restless mind, and hand can be a real bitch, aye?:D

In this case , while we are on " Essential travel only" due to the worsening Pandemic, hammering on metal in the shop is a great diversion from the outside world.
But yeah, sometimes one takes on ridiculous projects for no good reason other than imagination. This might be one of those!

I once saw a square block of pine wood that had a whittled ball within , a round hole on each flat of block had provided access for carver to whittle ball in-situ .... was done during the Spanish flu pandemic by a friends grand dad .... you definitely ,are onto something Glen ! .... got to admire your hand work !

That’s great.
The rest of us who don’t have your skills can live out our design fantasies vicariously through your works.

My Wife needed her prescription collecting, sunny, cold, dry day so, don't normally for short journeys but, wtf, chose the single over the cycle. Got lost returning home , kept turning the wrong way. Managed to find my way across the Moors, through the hills. Best thing going for your mental health. A few twitches on mud and leaves and cold as .... but you can't beat a 600 single for tickling your bits and blowing away the cobwebs.

It's very easy to get lost on a shopping trip, even on familiar roads
You have my sympathy
Cheers
