I still have a problem when "ashman" gets 70000 miles from a decent chain (I stress decent) accepting
the mass clammer for belts.
The bullet proof Merc big pin chain costs around £60 and is light at 1kg, expect over 50000 miles depending
on riding style.
I have no issue with belts on the whole but they are not a magic cure all. Pete on here also mentioned the
gearbox sprocket for altering gearing and yes the Commando used 2 or different teeth numbers. However
if you in USA and using O ring or heavy duty chain, I will wash my mouth later, you will huge problems
getting the required crank links to give correct adjustment.
So much has been said and so little advice has been taken, for those that have taken my advice I apologise
but this topic keeps raising its ugly head.
