Do you have a choke? Its cold at the moment and mine (no choke) needs lots of flooding to get it fired under 5-6c. Yes, fully in on airscrews might not help but it would enrichen it a bit! Best of luck,
 
Also be careful with that ether. If it pops back on you any residual ether will catch fire. It will also wipe any oil off your cylinder walls and intake valves.

+1 on tickle and choke if you thing its a fuel issue.

You'll hopefully get past this minor setback soon. I'd recommend tightening cylinder base nuts and re-torquing head bolts frequently for the first 1500 miles. I may have gone a bit overboard this last time by re-torquing at 5, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 1500 miles (stone cold). No leaks. You can do it with the tank on and everything assembled. You'll find that they will loosen up a lot in the beginning as the gasket(s) settle in.
