Only 145? Once had a 350 that could do that, and could beat 1000cc Kawaks regularly, but couldn't catch them going uphill! The bike I'll keep till I can't ride any more, my salvage-built '01 Kawasaki ZRX1100 with '03 1200R engine. Do-everything beast. Fastest bike I've ever owned; I've done over 145 indicated...

You should have taken it to Bonneville, you'd be in the record books.Only 145? Once had a 350 that could do that, and could beat 1000cc Kawaks regularly, but couldn't catch them going uphill!
There's silencers and there's silencers!!!!!!!Here's another one that I bought new when I was in Darwin on a LNG project there, the intention had been at the job end ride it the 4400 kms back home over a few weeks.
That did not eventuate going straight to another job on the west coast with a three day window. (An $1100 bill to truck it home)
It is pretty much stock besides scooter Diablo's.
Around 8 HP and top speed of around 103 km/h, it never fails to put a grin on your face.

I thought that !There's silencers and there's silencers!!!!!!!
Must be a helluva motor to need that much strangling!I thought that !
I was thinking the opposite... that silencer is probably the reason it only produces 8hp...?Must be a helluva motor to need that much strangling!
I had considered modifying it but elected to keep it stock besides the sticky tyre/tires.
Bolt on turbo kits, stroker big bores, the skies the limit, big brakes etc etc.
Popeye’s forearms come to mind ... does it run on cannedThere's silencers and there's silencers!!!!!!!
Glad to see you are not letting the old man in ..Not too much action here lately, so I'll post this one. My belated 80th birthday present. Not mine yet, but I just put down a deposit on the first one my local dealer gets. Should arrive some time in March. 2022 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory.
399 lbs. wet, 100 hp, all the electronic trickery gadgets one could possibly want, and a comfortable sit-up position. Ride reports claim excellent handling, braking, etc. Fits right in with my shift towards smaller, lighter weight bikes. And I really want to try all the new leaned-over braking and traction control stuff.
