Well my buddy and I, Tommy, the women call him Tommy the Salami decided we had to come up with a way to mount a shindigen to 74 850 Norton. As you know those things are monstrous and we just wanted to keep it short and neat. This is what we came up with after a few beers and a little thought.

John,
How about a picture of it mounted? I have made a bracket that mounts on the other side of the battery but it hits the stub of the pipe of the original chain oiler. I am now looking for a MarkIII oil tank that doesn’t have that pipe.
Thanks,Mike

Mike, just give me a day or so and I'll get you a few. No need to mess with another oil tank. You can't use the ham can air filter, I took mine off 44 years ago.

Here are a couple I hope they help Mike.@ Steven Hill. Chop the plate to a minimum around the key switch if you don't like the size of the plate. It has nothing to do with heat distribution. I'm running an Alton starter and we are rewiring the whole bike. The old podtronics was inside the battery box velcro to the battery. Just trying to clean things up a bit. With the Alton kit they also give you some type of funky mount for their starter relay. We are going to go with the mounting plate from the MK3 and an old Ford starter relay. Pics enclosed. The turn signal relay will probably go inside the headlight shell. Velcro or velcro strap will be used to mount the battery. There was an Old Post on here about shindigen mounting but the post was closed. I was just trying to present our idea.

This is the Alton starter relay. It sits on top of the battery.

Looks quite neat, but the unit is sitting in the slipstream of the engine, and will get quite warm. I had a Boyer Powerboat mounted in the same place, and it's died. I don't know for certain if the hear had nothing to do with it, but the replacement Lucas unit is going onto a bracket to mount just in front of the LH rear shock, where it's in a cooler position.

John,
Thanks for the pictures. I am using a CNW starter so that the regulator will have to be up higher but will check to see if I can locate it somewhat like you have done.
Thanks again,
Mike

Thanks Dan,

The bracket I have made is almost identical to what you have installed. My problem is that it doesn’t clear the stub where the chain oiler was blocked off.Yours must be shorter than mine. I also have to clear the tool tray on my Interstate(left side) side cover which I don’t want to eliminate.

I appreciate your link to show what you have done.
Mike

That's your call, I'm not worried about heat. What is a Boyer Powerboat? Sorry to hear that it fried.:(. We could just use longer wires, and I could velcro it to my helmet for maximum cooling, along with my Go Pro and night vision goggles. What do you think? Just teasing🤣
