Both wheel still touch the ground while on the center stand and if I lift it with a 2X6 under the center stand the rear of the bike is heavier than the front.

Yeah, the mounting plates move the stand forward and all the weight goes to the rear.

Come on Jean where's the satisfaction in that, remember the motto , make it twice for thrice the price :shock: , any way, we shouldn't be supporting that cheap nasty Chinese made shit :x :x :!: It may cost more to buy local products, but remember, when the rest of your country isn't working you won't be either. :idea:

Actually when you add in the shipping or gas to drive down and "shop" for it and as we have seen here, there's no garantee it's going to work, Jeans method isn't that much more costly. When you can just stay home and build it and it works properly there is efficiency and satisfaction there.

Sometimes, it's good to have a choice, when I made mine, the choice was to spend $150 for one or buy twenty dollars worth of aluminium and spend some time building it. A $40 stand just removes the choice to make one. Just for the record, if I was working I wouldn't have the time to make many of the things I do :wink:

Kind of ironic complaining about imported parts when, at least for me, all the Norton parts are imported. :roll:

I kinda like Henry David Thoreau's philosophy. Something like if you want to travel 5000 you're just as far ahead to start walking because you'll get there faster than if you find a job so you can by a plane ticket, which means you also have to rent a place to live while you're working and support yourself all the while you're saving for the ticket. (not quite like he says it but you get the idea.

For starters they use material below specification, they have no safety or work shop standards to comply with, they don't pay the peasants very much,they don't spend any money on good quality gear and then to cap it all off their corupt govt. subsudises the companies and remburses the labour content on exported items,so you are basicly just paying for the substandard raw material, they aren't stupid they figured they could slowly screw the USA over with greed, and it looks like they have. Shop with your feet and buy from a reputable country, start with your own if you can :!: :!:

Jean, I am green with envy. You can easily see how clean and well thought out your Norton is.

What a beautiful bike. Congratulations, you must be very pleased with it.
