Well, when one pays for photo hosting, one assumes they have redundant/backup servers/drives...speedrattle said:...(image) will go away if my drive account crashes.
...but it only seems to want to download the image onto my computer. I don't see where anyone else has used Outlook: Anyone? Bueller? 'Guess I'll be setting up a postimage account.speedrattle said:https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6LT8psaO-BZVm9MX2FqNzl4dGs
^^^this is a link to my google drive account. image doesn't appear unless you click and wait, and will go away if my drive account crashes.

pantah_good said:I'm trying Jerry... Last night I attempted to replace a few more old photobucket photos on my old rebuild thread. As a VIP member I should be able to click on the edit button on the post you want to change, delete the old photobucket computer lingo that links to that particular photo on their site, then follow the normal VIP procedure to add that photo from your own photo files off your computer, then click the submit button.
My first try, I tried to do all that for the two photos in that old post in one shot, but got kicked off with these two messages:
"FORBIDDEN: You don't have permission to access /posting.php on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
"YOUR CONNECTION TO THIS SERVER HAS BEEN BLOCKED IN THIS SERVERS FIREWALL.....
etc.......
pantah_good said:Yes sir, been there done that. For a while I've been reducing any photos I've been posting down to 1200x900 pixels or setting my camera ahead to 1024x768 pixels.
File Size
File size is how much storage memory your file occupies on your disk and depends entirely upon how much information is in your image. ‘Information’ is the total number of pixels and total bit depth of an image. The total pixels in an image depends on both ppi and image size (pixel density x area = total number of pixels). Bit depth will vary the file size depending on what bit depth mode the image was captured in (8 bit or
16 bit), and what color mode is being used (grayscale, RGB or CMYK). We measure file size just like we do any other kind of fi le in KB, MB, GB, etc.
Resolution + Image Size + Bit Depth + Color Mode = File Size
Jerry Doe said:The new forum will be similar with to regard image sizes. I have not decided exactly how to configure that yet. We are still completing design and will get into detailed functionality next. Off the top of my head I am thinking there needs to be an image width limitation or it looks stupid in the post if too wide, also uses too much space. The new site will be mobile friendly (this one is not), so images will expand and contract depending on viewport (browser size). The gallery will be much better, there will be more social activity. Facebook likes etc. and other surprises. I will probably roll it out in phases. That is when I need the community to test and provide feedback.
One of the things I am thinking about is to give non VIP members x amount of free space for images, with an option to upgrade to VIP for more space. I am trying to think of a good way to encourage not to use 3rd party services so we dont go through that again. As mentioned still a long way to go, at least 2 or 3 months and then Les and I will make final decisions on functionality.
Another option we are trying to code is: If an image is posted at a 3rd party company we will download it to our server and feed it from here. So if you do add the image link we will download that image to our server and resize it. That way we dont care about 3rd party photo hosting going down. Thats tough to code though. we are trying to complete that.
No need to discuss this more or offer suggestions as i already know where i am heading with it. Its a lot of work. I am excited about it. Stay tuned.

found this on britbike forum, it worksThanks, Acadian. That's a very clear tutorial.

http://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=711245#Post711245Hello everyone,
We thought it was a good idea to post an announcement about editing previous posts/ topics. As you know the 3rd party photo sharing company called photo bucket is now charging for the service. Access Norton members have thousands of photos linked from there to our forum. Now all we see is place holder images, and that does not help anyone. I understand there are some fixes for this, but it involves editing previous posts. I have changed the forum settings so you can edit posts.
Please can you login and edit your previous posts that have images from photo bucket. Either remove the old broken photos links or fix them. This will help others trying to learn how to fix their bikes.
Feel free to add to this post with instructions on how to fix photo bucket (I dont know how).
Cheers
Jerry
