I don't like the modern reality of off shore production, but it's an unfortunate consequence of globalism. CEOs want higher profits to boost stock prices, and their bonuses. Manufacturing in the west is just too expensive with environmental regs, taxes, unions to deal with, etc.

The MG is still being made? I didn't know that.

The MG brand along with Rover and Volvo are now Chinese owned. Probably others too.

The entire world has slept through this thing. The more you look into the scale of Chinese ownership the more shocked you get…

Everyone is (quite rightly) blaming Europe for being naive in cosying up to Russia for gas and oil etc. but the rest of the world is no different in how they’ve fed the Chinese machine…

Just found out last night for anyone that enjoys a pint that Greene King is owned by the Chinese.. How does this happen!?
 
Trouble is, if they've got the money, who's going to turn it down?? I was once told: 'Pride doesn't pay the bills' and I don't suppose a drowning man will check the colour/ethnicity of the hand that saves him.

We all want 'cheap' (though not at the expense of quality) and that only comes with cheap labour, which you'll struggle to find here....

Take China out of the equation and we'll be back to pencil and paper...

Yes corporate greed is a big factor.
But not the only one. Everyone who’s ever bought a product from China instead of a local one has also sent their £ / $ / € to China. And that’s every single one of us !
Cumulatively, the amount of wealth we are sending to them is unprecedented.
All of the things they are buying, inc companies, land, mineral rights and all of their massive military machine… all paid for by us !
Jus’ sayin’ …
 
And doubtless they're laughing up their inscrutable sleeves, because in most cases we no longer have the 'local' option..
A nation of entrepreneurs was our nirvana, no?
No more dirty hands for us !!

You can try not to buy Chinese but it’s almost impossible..I ask before I buy now but most of the time there is no other option..

Very true.
And we can't stop doing it, even though we know we're doing it.
Cheap shit from China is like crack cocaine, feels sooooo good, gotta have more, even as its killing us.
This is one nightmare that has been going on so long, that when we finally wake up it will already be too late.
 
But it isn't all 'shit' though, is it? We've lost our manufacturing base mainly through being too expensive, and I don't think most UK cars late '70's early '80's from the big manufacturers were exactly 'quality' items..

I think historians will look back in amazement at what has happened (is happening)…
 
All the 'great' or 'prosperous' nations were built on the back of exploitation.. We still do in a small way domestically (migrant workers for fruit picking, food industry.... why?)
So now it's China's turn to get ahead on the backs of their low paid..

But this is not just ‘any’ country getting a little ahead.
Its an aggressive regime looking to get ahead of everyone.
Then what ??
