New model to be launched before Christmas

Does this mean the ‘new’ one or just one of the batch of 40 classics I wonder?

Guess we’ll have to wait till next Weds to find out …

Technically, the article says "NEW 961," so I'm going to believe that it's the NEW 961 rather than one of the "promised 40."

Are you believing that the promised 40 were of sg era left over scraps? Because if that’s so, TVS still has to warranty them
Talking of the ‘classics’ I recently read that TVS ’fulfilled the outstanding 29 orders‘ that SG failed to deliver.

So there are presumably 11 SG era ‘classics’ out there ?

Just to further confuse anyone looking to buy one in future !!

No, truth be told, we don't know what the real (if any) difference there is between the "40" and the "NEW" 961s.
For the "40" TVS/Norton may simply have actually done real QC/QA on the components for the "40". and produced better and more reliable 961's. You know, like a real competent manufacturer would do.
For the "NEW" 961, perhaps the motors are manufactured by someone else, and supplied to Norton. Perhaps these NEW engines have gone through an R&D process to eliminate the real design issues, which I don't think were major ones, and now the NEW motors will provide the same level of reliability and functionality as any other modern EFI engine.

But, if the factory has to warranty the "40", and the NEW 961, they must think that these 961s will not present a problem for their profitability bottom line.

Pushing problem plagued bikes out the door would be financial suicide for TVS/Norton, I don't think they would do that.

Or from a different perspective, 11 bikes worth of replacement parts for current owners.
Kinda - glass have full.;)

Or 11 of the 40 declined the kind offer?

If this silencer is off the new model then it looks like it’s an incarnation of the 961..
