Is that October 11th or November 10th ?

Intriguing! An advance notification for those that submitted an expression of interest I guess!

Oops WR, didn’t see you’d posted a link above. I take it this is what they are calling the new 961 - not the hangover Classics you mention.

My guess would be same engine (resolved), same frame and suspenders, with a re-styled body work. Of course I could be completely wrong! Not long to wait though. Released now maybe to build anticipation for the NEC?

Does that front mudguard look a different profile - clutching at straws now! Yes I was that kid that always went in search of his presents on Christmas Eve!

Wow 3 years of wasted waiting. Just to see a 961 commando we already own or seen before. Woopie.

What a joke.

Everything’s the same. Meaning same 961 commando.

Everything’s different meaning now owned by Stone Age slow with progress TVS.

I’d rather watch paint dry.

Just read the wording again. Guessing again at meaning:

‘Everything‘s the same’ - it’s gonna look identical or close?

’Everything’s different’ - all technical issues resolved?

Would’t class it as years wasted if lt leads to spares availability and the potential to retrofit redesigned components/assemblies to our machines. We might have seen it before but as we know it is already drop dead gorgeous so maybe that’s a good thing. There would be plenty of scope for them to f@#k the styling up if they have tried.

I expressed interest in the new Commando on the factory website some months ago. I received an email today that there is due to be an announcement on their site re the new Commando at 12pm bst on the 11th October.
Hmmm, old news! Should have read the whole thread!

Are you going to buy another 961 that looks identical to the one you have?

Also, what good are spare parts that Norton themselves say they can’t guarantee to work on a SG era bike?

Some aspects of the 961 could be better . There is always room for improvement with bit of modernization.

I would say that if the New stuff in the NEW 961 is up to snuff, there will be variants of the 961 following shortly.
The NEW 961 has to have the reliability, and functionality that all folks require from a modern EFI machine.
It will have to live-down its past reputation, unfortunately.
If it is up to snuff, with the right stuff, the sales will be there.

No, I have the bike that I want - I‘m delighted by it every time I ride.

The component differences will become clear pretty quickly. For those (if any) that don’t fit, the 961 community/aftermarket/engineering industry will no doubt adapt - as it’s done this far.

As I have been doing for thirty years with my Rotary.

I’m not aware of any aftermarket 961 chassis or body parts.

That’s what I’ve been waiting 3 years for.
