Well it's been a busy 24 hours. Dropped the head off yesterday for vapor blasting and it was ready today. Clean as a whistle!
Had the barrels measured today at Applied Auto's and they are only just over standard. So I can get away with + 10 oversize pistons. Anyone know where I can get some +10 Hepolites?
Murray at Cyclecraft has looked at the head and I will problay get lead free valve seats put in. Line the valve guides for new black diamond valves and maybe bronze exhaust thread inserts.
Anyone got an opinion on K liners? Are they known to come adrift?
Black diamond valves? Better than standard?
Lead free valve seats? Required? Are the originals not hardened?
I've got to admit we've got some pretty good services available in Perth if you know where to look.
It's time to start ordering some parts so I need to get cracking. Can't do nought till then.
Thanks for the welcomes so far everyone and the advice. Keep it coming.

It seems to happen when I have read a post and want to go back to the Norton Commando Motorcycles page

It works OK for me with IE8, Firefox or Chrome.

or if I am doing a search I can't go back to the search results.

Well, I don't really have that problem either, however the search facility will time out if the user is not logged in.

Welcome to the forum, Mark. The bike looks good. Color looks good to me. I wouldn't repaint it.

No need to replace valve seats, unless they are burned so badly they can't be saved. The stock seats are fine with unleaded.

+10 Hepolites may be hard to come by. You might have to settle for +20. I think the Norton parts dealers are supplying GPM pistons now. I'm running those in my 750 and haven't had any problems. In my 850, I'm running EMGO pistons and Hastings rings, as recommended by the machine shop I use. No issues. Why pay more? :D

What I've done to see complete images is: right click on the image, then select "View Image" - it should resize the pic to fit (this is on Mozilla Firefox) You'll have to click "Back" to return to the forum. Hope this helps, great looking bike!

Thanks Mello. I've been doing the hold Ctrl button and scrolling the mouse thing to view pics but then have to scroll back in to read text.

Thanks Debbie. The color is growing on me and the paint is in pretty good condition so I wont be changing it.

The seats don't look too bad now that the head has been cleaned up. Maybe my head guy has a different opinion. I'm not so keen to rip them out if it's not needed.

I've made a few enquiries and it seems +10 Hepolite pistons are no longer available which is a pity because that is all that is required to bring the bores back. Unlesss anyone else knows a source. Are the GPM's or Emgo's +10?
