The plate is a SW Motec item which can take a Givi baseplate,A top box can be fitted but looks awful and is totally heavy.
The rack also doubles as grab handles for the pillion due to the immense power!

Really nice back rack ! I might have missed the details . Are you saying that SW Motec make this back rack to fit Norton 961 Dual seat models ? That is great news . If not can you elaborate on what you did to make this fit for those who have dual seats ? Thanks

I made the grab rail parts from bits that I had removed from other bikes.
It was made to accept a Sw Motech base plate from a KTM 390.
I tacked it up then got someone who is a lot better welder than me to do it properly. It was then powder coated.
So basically a one off.

Can you please share the buying link for these side bags? I am looking to buy one under $150 and have found any till now. Are they waterproof or come with a waterproof cover? How is your experience with these bags? Do they cause any handle wobbling when going on highway speed? I had one but experienced very poor handling when installed.

These sidebags are for 961's recently built in last decade and a different frame to the earlier Commando buit 68 to 77, for a 1974 you need to look in the Classic Norton sub forum, there is a Triumph Thruxton set which fit a 74 very well.

I can't remember ever seeing a 961 with a sissy bar.
Kind of destroys the cafe lines of the bike, but I guess there's a first time for everything.
If the look worked at all on a 961, I would think it best on a California 961 with high bars.
That would give the bike a type of '70s HiRider look.o_O

I have fitted ( to a California) some old BMW pannier frames and panniers, with interconnecting top box and rack. I used a bracing bar across the rear attached to the rear light bracket, and removed passenger foot pegs to allow a bottom bracket for frames. Used shock top mounts for top main mounts.
Also added a rear mudguard extender ( random secondhand Jap. plastic rear guard chopped up)
