Thanks pvisseriii, lucky i don't own the boat, errant tanker got us and two others, so his insurance company will be hurting!!!
I have to wait now until early Jan 2012 to appreciate Jims carbs, and have all this time on my hands to wonder what my trye/rim to fork leg measurments might be!!!
Wrote on an another post, have had time to kit my master cylinder with a RGM upgrade kit, do you think anyone would want to hear and see, as it might help thos e who think it maybe beyond their abilities ?
Regards Mike

As promised here are the pix of the JS S[ports PWK carb manifold powder coat finish. The powder coat came out very nice. I wound highly recommend this to anyone who has an eye for detail. JS carbs, = good product, just a little finishing touch.

that does look nice - shame about the gia-normously ugly hose clamps too (just for attention to detail sake of course)

I'm upgrading the hose clamps. All the clamps are now narrow & similar - anything to keep you guys happy.

nice Jim! i was actually being facetious

Wonder what stops water running down the throttle cable ferrule into the motor if a power washer is used to clean bike or its ridden in heavy rain? If the carbs dont come with rubber boots to stop water getting in it might be a good idea to fit some at the same time the cables are installed?

I have never seen that as being an issue with the standard setup on amals, and i've ridden in plenty heavy rain, using same cable/ferrule arrangement--anyway, I just wouldn't be using a pressure cleaner on that bike, maybe just a spray on degreaser where required-works on road grime as well as oil and grease--with either a wipe off or a very light low pressure spray of water.

Another reason for the heat shrink/shrink wrap if you think it is a problem that I posted earlier. I haven't experienced any of that sort of iossue in 45 years of operating and owning bikes of all flavours, many off roaders as well.
Regards Mike

All off-road bikes have rubber boots on the cable ferrules.............but I guess if water is never likely to get anywhere near the carbs, then water running it the carbs down the cables isnt going to be a problem anyway.

I think i have put together a very good fuel line and filter setup for my JS Motorsport carbs. This is using the Pingle 2 in/2 out in line filter. What do you think? The black fuel line is from a harley. It is preshaped with a 90 degree bend. The clear line is NOS british fuel line.

Going to have to say that NOS fuel line probably isn't the correct term. Fuel line that old would probably be brittle.

My carb kit arrived yesterday or rather I collected it from the Parcelforce depot. Had to pay import duty and VAT of £72.30!!! and had to track it down myself. Anybody would think it was Christmas and the posties were busy or something. If you're a brit and thinking about one of these kits you need to take a holiday to California and bring one home in your baggage (or the wife's or both) One carb in each suitcase, one manifold in each cabin baggage, air filters in your pocket. Not that I'm trying to encourage anyone to avoid the taxman. Just got to sneak into the garage to play when SWMBO is sleeping.

That is brilliant.

The brillance will be in the functionality at sustained WOT.

Hi guys, where do you get those right angle fittings right off the tank taps(valves)?
I am planning a stainless tube between the tank taps(3/8") with 2 x 'T's' off the stainless tube, then Tygon tubing down to each carb.
Sorry about the grief of the taxman. I had mine sent from JS to a colleague in Florida to hand carry them to a project a big group of us were on in Southern China, I missed him, so another colleague hand carried mine to NZ for me. Lucky he only lived 6 mins from my place!!!
The things we do to keep these bikes running !!!
My tax was the beer tokens for both guys in China!!!!
Regards Mike

Hi All

I have been running these JS carbies for about 2 months now and so far very happy with them, my Norton is not a standard 850 it has a ballanced crank as the motor is in a Wideline Featherbed frame, SS cam grinde, worked head but with standard valves and a Joe Hunt Maggie, so Jim set these carbies for this motor with next size up jets with the needle setting second from the top, they were very easy to set up on the bike, the hardest part was to work out how to run the fuel lines, I ended up running 2 angled fittings from the taps with a hose running to the nomal tap and reseved tap so I only need to have the one tap on, inbetween this I put 2 tee pieces in this hose and run 2 hose, one to each carbie, the best part about this set up you can't even see the fuel lines from the side of the bike, very neat.

After fitting I was surprised that it started on the first kick and they were easy to tune, the hardest part was learning to get it started first thing in the mornings as I am so use to just tickel and kick, at first it took me 4 to 5 kick to start in the mornings but once started it fired up 1st kick every time after, even sitting at work for 9 hours, what I do now is give the trottle a few twist, turn the left inricher on and give it a full hard kick, it usaly starts first kick but if it don't the first kick it will be the next, but as soon as it fires up you must turn the enricher straight off, once warmed up it will idle perfect all the time.

I have never had much troubles with my Amal carbies in the 36 years of owning my Norton so this has been a big step for me, so far it has been a good move as the bike is running smoothly and with a twist of the trottle it just get up and goes hard, a lot of times I have troubles keeping the front wheel on the road  and my plugs have been running the cleanest I have ever seen them, I think with the Joe Hunt Maggie and these carbies they are such a perfect match together (thanks Jim) so only time will tell how good these carbies are and so far I am very happy with the way they are performing :D .
