Re: I just don't get the endless posts on performance upgrad
The blind faith thing is not too bad if you work up t o it. At our local circuit there is a tight hairpin bend over at the back. I usually ride around normally for a few laps, then when I come to that corner gas the bike really hard when halfway around it, and watch where the bike ends up when I don't consciously steer it. I always leave myself plenty of room to recover. Once you know where the bike is going of its own volition, you can use the self-steering safely all the time. All bikes self steer to a certain extend so most always feel better under power. On my bike the effect is slightly more pronounced. Your steering is also set up so the bike is stable when the front brake is applied. If you geometry is too far in the opposite direction the bike can mishandle badly under braking and possibly crash you.
If you ever ride a street bike on a race circuit and get into the situation where you find yourself going too fast and so become uncertain, it is always better to get on the gas rather than brake.
