Hmmmm...gotta be careful, GP, not to confuse your perception of "personal attacks" with the cold hard truth. Personal attacks are just that....someone's opinion....

Right, I was referring to the "bragging" comment. My whole point of this thread was to try to determine, as far as can reasonably be determined, how many Commandos are represented here on the forum, then compare it to total # of Commando built. Like I said, sometimes I think about these insignificant things.

I'm not going to get into the subject of miles per year, it's neither here nor there. (however, I do want to do a 1,000 mile in 24 hour run while I'm still able)

Maybe I could start an equally silly thread about how many members rode one of their Commandos over a 1000 km from home and back during the last year ( if ever ) , on its own wheels , that is .. ? .
But don't worry , I won't .
I doubt il will fill 5 pages ..[/quote]

6 pages and counting knucklehead.
What I liked so much about this site was the politeness and respect of everyone .
Ludwig,,,you just had to ruin it didn't you. What are you, 12?
Pity.

So let's all concentrate on keeping it that way, and not resort to personal insults and name-calling.

I sure liked his un-restored drop dead clever hidden mono-shock C'do I saw snapped up at last Barber Vintage Days auction last year.

IF you guy's had ANY clue on the loads put into the isolastics you would soon see that gp'S MONO SHOCK IS A COBBELED UP MESS. the force's put on the iso's is way out of there design parameters as the shock load's are trying to push the whole swing arm and engine out the rear of the bike. same goes for the IMPROPER use of LOCKTIGHT. now on to the subject, yes I do ride my commando and have put anywhere from 150 to 650 miles a day on it so if it is put togather by someone that KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING it can be a very reliable bike. oh and welcome back ludwig.

Just one '74 850 Commando (did the ton on her third shakeDown) in my stable. Harley's gatherin' dust. Miss April 1967 probably gettin' jealous.

Just one for me, my '73 money pit 850. :D

Hmm, I wonder if "MNYPT" is taken as a custom plate around here? That would pretty much sum it up..

Mr Ludwig... why the mean spirited attack on GP? Is there something specific he did or sold that you could describe? The name calling isn't very constructive, and shows a bit of your character.

I don't believe Ludwig has a personal beef with GP. I believe his comments are born from his knowledge of one, and possibly two, Forum members that had horrible experiences.

Have to say I pretty much agree with Ludwig. I think we are all looking for the best or ideal way of doing things here (especially newbies) and some commercial interests do not have necessarily have this goal as it can conflict with making money as a business. Some of these threads are blatant advertising but newer members may not know this. Honestly I think all commercial interests should be put in their own section like Britbike forum does.

a 73 750 roadster (221###) always spending my money

You're lucky to live in such a beautiful place to ride.
Otago Peninsula or over the Mt Cargyl road to Blue Skin bay!

yer right rx, theres a lot of nice roads, and summers nearly here. im livin in blue skin bay at the mo. ya must have spent some time around here?

72 Combat here in World Cup Rugby Central......
Went of a nice estimated ( thanks to dead speedo) 300 km ride around the Waikato just south of Auckland......hard work dodging the passed out Paddies along the way
Popped in to see mate on his 850 ( also a member) who was working on his Guzzi Ambo and an R90s.
Feeling stuffed as the shocks are poked and the seat is rock hard.......

When it happens that someone ask me that question, I sincerly and normally said one , the one I had since 1974....the first , the one which made me nut about them! the first 18 months I did a bit less than 35000 miles with her , then after the things went different , between 1974 and 2004 several others came and gone (27 as far as i remenber), then with the arrival of the web at home , 20 more found their path to my shed , but most of the time they do not had the same taste as the real one, my first one who get neglected , through all my trials to do better , (sorry there were few Atlas , and one Rickman Commando), now most of them are gone , and I feel better with only few in the shed ....I know i will have succeed to reach the summit when only one stayed, like at the beginning......
Life is short .......
