Will she really be any more pissed off at you for spending $1650 as opposed to $1500?

Buy it. You know you want to!

exactly!!!! what's $150 in the long run? nothing.

Get it, store it away, even if it takes you 20 years to finish so what, you've already got one that will be done soon.

Uggggggh!!!!

You are a fool to buy this piece of trash. Where are your brains. It's a piece of junk.

By the way, you wouldn't have the phone number of the guy selling it handy would you. I would like to call and let him have it for trying to swindle one of our finest members.

There is an old saying:

Well done, I think you got a decent project for the right money. The days of regularly picking these things up for a few hundred bucks are long gone, they are only going to get more difficult to come by and more expensive. From time to time someone gets lucky and happens upon a great deal, but this is the exception rather than the rule - after all someone else also seems to win the lottery.

It's home! All-in-all, I'm really happy with my $1650 purchase. The guy also threw in a decent transmission (not locked up) for $150.. Not bad!

Additionally, the guy said he had already ordered new F.A.G. bearings for the motor (said he paid $130) and he told me he'd mail those my way when they showed up. He seemed genuine enough so I'm hopeful those will come as well.

All-in-all, it was a good pickup. Glad I took a flyer on it. :)

Looks like you got a good pickup, wish I could find one here.

My wife wishes it had been you to find this one and not me! LOL

I hope the bearings show up. The guy was really nice and seemed very genuine. He said he was more into Triumphs.. That could help me source a hardtail frame for my #16 Commando motor, though.. ;D

Well, congrats on a great purchase Jordan ! :D (of course i'm jealous though  ) I think ya got a great deal, and I luv all the pics ya post, cheers !!! :D

I'm very happy with the purchase. I think I met a good contact for future norton/triumph finds and this bike has good potential too. As far as we can tell, it looks like a legitimate numbers-matching 1970 (titled as a 1971) S-model, with all of the correct indicators. I'm not a huge fan of the S but it makes me really think about bringing this one back as nearly stock.. Idk! :)

T-bone is a good guy, I think he'll come through for you. The fifth picture down in the what the hell category is a disc caliper holder from a Japanese bike, probably a Honda.

Yeah, I think this transaction may well have been more worthwhile for the networking than anything, although the bike is nice too! I'm hoping T can dig up a nice hardtail frame for me.. :D

Thanks for the ID on that part. I doubt I'll keep most of the stuff in the "WTF" pile if it's not commando, so any help I can get on identifying it is good. :)

I recognize that mid-70s Honda front brake caliper mount, and those look like Triumph pre-unit inner primary case halves.
