Back to Singh Precision's! So it seems no one on this community has anyone heard of them.

Hi, you can count the number of manufacturers of Indian made tanks for Brit applications on one hand. However, the number of educated traders offering these tanks and other tinware for sale is substantially more. Indian tanks are hand made, hence lack of consistency. Like with most traders (worldwide), they often claim to be the manufacturer, when the reality is very much often different...

Hi new to this site, but have been following the comments on Singh Precisions. I ordered a Norvil tank form him about 6 weeks ago and apart from a few responses to my progress enquiries I have received nothing yet. Paid in full, I hope he delivers. He has not answered my last 2 emails.

The posts on Sings Precisions contained in this thread are bare of an actual example of one being bought and evaluated, so I hope a read of this thread did not persuade you to buy as it contains no substance except that Worntorns efforts are 110% ok, I hope he comes up with the goods but all the pics are of Worntorns work not SP's.

its the underside of the tanks that you need to see,

The complex curves are made up of lots of little pieces all welded together, any mistakes and you get leaks.

thats the good thing about the EMGO roadster tank, the bottom of the tank is a single piece of metal, pressed into the correct shape. pity they don't make a Fastback version.

so if mr Singh wants to impress upon us his quality hee needs to show photos of the bottom and the interiors of his tanks.

This seems to be a relatively unfortunate series of events... After much enthusiasm and being very available (via email), Mr Singh has gone completely dark for at least 2 months now. I've emailed him several times in this period and not a single response. Ironically, he had been telling me he monitors this site regularly. His intention was to build me a tank, send me regular weekly photos of the progress to be culminated by a no risk shipment for evaluation and discussions with an optional sale if I was satisfied etc. Then nothing. While it does not look... I'll give him another week to see if he perhaps has been having unrelated issues.

Regards,

SvenSven

Well, I think I have been dudded. Paid in full by PayPal and 6 weeks later nothing from Singh. Has not answered numerous emails despite previously telling me 2 weeks ago that the tank just needed a final polish. I am looking at what action I can take. So please be aware, Singh Precisions does not honor their promises and the whole thing could be a complete sham!

As chasbmw says above it's all in the underside of the tanks. Compare the tanks in the three ebay.au ads below. The red and silver tanks come from the same Australian ebay seller and are quite different. The black one is apparently supplied direct from India and is different again, but looks a bit like the silver one, only done by someone who knows how to weld

Apologies for only posting the URL's but I don't have the necessary photobucket account on this computer.)

I emailed the local supplier on Monday about the difference between his red and silver tanks; his response....."I'l check with my supplier..." We'll wait and see.

I suggest you get a hold of PayPal immediately and see what options if any you have.
If you have been stiffed at the very least inform PayPal of this and they could freeze his account so he can't use them again to stiff others.
Without some credible positive feedback from other customers I'd have not paid in advance but COD.

Here is a site that surveys for scams and specifically looked at singh-precisions
If you continue to not get your tank or at least money back you can post at the bottom of the page what happened to you and help prevent others from being ripped off.

I was sucked in by his obliging and seemingly helpful nature. I sent photos of the tank I wanted and we emailed back and forth sorting the detail, so I thought it legit. I have logged a complaint with PayPal and their response is that as it is over 45 days from ordering they are unable to help. Be very careful, and yes I should have been more cautious.

I know the guy behind Singh Precision. I met him when I rode an Enfield from Nepal and all around India. I've also met him in Oregon a couple times. He was at the Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum touring with a DVD of "One Crazy Ride." http://dirttrackproductions.com/ocr.html

It's not a scam but he does get busy and stops responding. When I do it, I like to say I "fell off the earth". I have no idea what he's currently up to. He's done rides from Delhi to Burma/Myanmar and has ridden the highest road in the world. Maybe he's on another trip. I have no idea. Indians, and the people in the Middle East where I currently am, don't have the same concept of time.

I haven't had any tanks made by Singh Precisions but I know he has quite a few motorcycles so the tanks should work. I am curious about how they turn out.

It appears Singh is never too busy to take a customer's money, but filling an order is a different matter.

Yeah, that would annoy me. India is just a $300 round trip flight for me. Maybe I'll fly over to Delhi to kick dirt and take names on my next vacation.

Just had an email from Singh advising he had a minor stroke and been off for a couple of weeks. He promised to send pics next Monday or refund my money. I will take him on his word and hope he recovers soon.

He emailed me as well. His writing isn't up to standards. I hope he comes through ok. He said the docs are still running expensive tests trying to get him back up to snuff. He got married last year. It's got to be rough for his wife. There's a lot of con artists in the vintage bike world, but he isn't one.

Hi Guys, Just FYI
I ordered a full set of the CB750 alloy body work for a cafe racer i am going to do shortly and also a slimline tank for a triton project I am doing and other than waiting for the kit to come I have no issues with this guy. his comms are good, hes easy to deal with and very helpfull. I can understand that there is a lot of negatives dealing with some guys over in the subcontinent but to be fair this guys comes across ok in my mind and i recieved the CB tank and seat unit and panels last friday so I would say give the guy a chance.
If you can wait a day or two i will open the package and post pics when i get back home over the weekend
I do agree its a minefeild buying from people over the internet but his prices are keen and my expectations are that the product will be of a superior quality than the usual crap that i have seen coming over here in the last few years.
cheers

Steve

I see CommandoSpecialties offers a metal tank that is $299 plus shipping.
Claims to have sold about 500!
I've gotten stuff from them before and felt quality and price were fine so makes me think if they've sold that many they could have a decent supplier.
With raw metal the pictures make it difficult to assess their look.
Has anyone on this site bought one of those tanks?

I think that has come up before.
The owner of Commando Specialties is a poster here and I think he said they are built by a hand picked (Indian) manufacturer and fully checked before sale hence the high amount sold. (Don;t quote me but something like that)
