Feked anti-wet sump valve and switch

My 2 penneth. If you really feel the need for a valve the the Feked type is the way to go. The so called automatic ones are a potential disaster and even if they work properly they introduce a restriction into the oil feed.

If you use the Feked type, turn it on well before you ride to make sure the oil line to the pump is full.

I've never felt the need to fit one to my Commando. The only time I have to drain the sump is if I haven't used the bike for a couple of months. Otherwise I just start it. The extra oil in the sump gives the cam and followers a nice dose of lubrication on startup.

I do have a lever type valve on my ES2 but only because when the oil in the sump gets to the level of the main bearings it come out of the breather and dumps a pool of oil on the floor. It doesn't have any interlock gizmo but I use a clip on peg on the advance and retard lever as a reminder. I haven't forgotten it, yet.

My only concern with the Feked device is the quality of the switch they employ. It looks like a cheap front brake light switch, so I would not run the ignition switch feed through it.

That's right, a relay in the circuit will solve this.

not trying to be an as$, but basic fluid flow principles apply and any restriction even a slight reduction of line size will imped the flow to the oil pump. we could go a step further and and improve the flow if we could get nice smooth teflon lined hose

As a fluid dynamicist, I assure you that a slight (up to 20%) reduction in bore size results in an insignificant (2%) reduction in flow providing the length of the reduced bore section is short (short is less than 10 times the bore diameter). Conversely, a slight increase in bore size results in an insignificant increase in flow under the same conditions.

I have flow data to confirm using fuel rather than oil, and I assure you that these results are not dependant on fluid medium. If you study the data in this link <https://www.accessnorton.com/NortonCommando/flow-measurements-on-ewarts-fuel-tap.21225/> you will see the effect.

I don't mean to belittle you, but I cannot allow your concept of fluid mechanics to go unchallenged. There are too many people who are already concerned over small modifications to oil lines who need not be led further astray.

Slick

You may ask/check with those guys :
It looks like the same switch as "Magneto Guys" and I think are the neatest looking TBH.

These look very good as well, from a German supplier..

Yes I know that magneto guys and king pin are the same family, one is the father of the other ! or the other way , don't remember, but your german look very nice and are proposed with different hose diameter........
