Exhaust thread repair failed

When he did mine, he requested the rose nuts I intended to use be sent with head so he could cut the threads to match. Apparently some variation in thread shapes happen on different nuts.
When done he sent me a video of the nuts threading in after cutting the insert inside threads.

I hand delivered mine and we discussed the rose nuts first hand.

My engine had the short thread balance pipe rose nuts that used a split collet between the rose nut and pipe flange.

I will be replacing those with the longer thread pre-balance pipe rose nuts.

Hi Dan.
Yes it all seems to be holding together perfectly. I was concerned the head had too much material removed by a previous owner to fit oversized, left hand threaded collars. Your threaded inserts and careful machining did the trick.
I’m glad it all worked out for you.
Another 1971 750 Norton Exhaust port repair completed . Shipped back to its owner in New Hampshire
