If it was a Tesla you would be looking at battery replacement-I wondered what I would be doing if I was driving an EV?
I would be scared to death.

Just the 2 hour trip turning into 5 would be a nightmare in an EV.I just returned from Dallas yesterday amid torrential rain that turned a 2 hour trip into 5 hours.
Lots of local flooding. In one place, 5 freeway lanes were funneled into one, because of flooding. 6 to 10 inches of water stood in low places. Driving an F150 gave me plenty of clearance to ford the standing water, but as I did so, I wondered what I would be doing if I was driving an EV?
I would be scared to death.

GOOD ! About freakin’ time.Vehicle Excise Duty ( road tax) exemption for EVs ends next year,
Vehicle tax for electric, zero or low emission vehicles
How the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) changes from 1 April 2025 will affect your vehicle.www.gov.uk
The above images are Savannah, GA.Massachusetts.
I have an opinion regarding Mass. drivers having encountered such over the years.
So who pays for the all that amperage flowing into the batteries, the state of the Feds or both?
How long before charging points especially those at motorway services and dedicated stations have a “ fuel “ duty added? Like LPG Autogas has vat at 20%, LPG for domestic is 5%. I know someone with a Volvo Bifuel who fills his car LPG tank with gas from his home tank. Fortunately there is no marker dye like red dieselGOOD ! About freakin’ time.
There was never any logic behind this in the first place !
Most of the cost of fuel is tax. EV owners get their carbon tax break right there, by not buying fuel and thus not paying all of that fuel tax.
They still use the roads though… so should contribute to the cost of the roads like all other road users.
Carbon emissions are caused by burning fuel. So if you want to tax carbon emissions, tax it at the source… the fuel. It is the ONLY logical / sensible / fair way. But they won’t increase it further cos it’ll be unpopular.
All the other ridiculous tax incentives that they do are simply methods of BRIBERY to cajole people into buying EVs who would others not do so.
Most EVs are owned by those who can afford them, ie the comfortable middle class. So we have a bizarre situation whereby the working class, who cannot afford them, are subsidising the tax breaks for those who can!
I am already intrigued by the number of people returning to ICE because their EVs are not as cheap to own as promised… incredibly hypocritical considering their reason for going EV was to ‘save the environment’…!
It’s the biggest global ‘Emperors New Clothes’ scam ever !!
Ok, I’m gonna take my pills now and have a lie down in a dark room…

I suppose the free electric charge compensates for the ~15mpg you will be getting out of the Kwacka...
Won't affect the majority of sales which are fleet and company cars, the tax incentives are jaw dropping. The small amount of privates sales will drop even further and the 2nd hand prices will drop for those company cars.Vehicle Excise Duty ( road tax) exemption for EVs ends next year,
Vehicle tax for electric, zero or low emission vehicles

Let’s say you have an electric company car costing £40,000; 2% of £40,000 is £800 – that’s the amount of the car’s value that is taxable.
But you don’t pay all that taxable value: you pay a percentage of it based on what tax bracket your salary puts you in.
If you are a 20% tax rate payer, every year you will pay 20% of £800, so will owe the taxman £160 a year.
If you are a 40% tax rate payer, every year you will pay 40% of £800, so will owe the taxman £320 a year.
With 31% of £40,000 being £12,400, a 40% tax-bracket employee would pay £4,960 a year, or £413.33 a month, in tax.
You would therefore be looking at an annual saving of over £4,500 if you went for the electric option.
I'm funding both....I suppose the free electric charge compensates for the ~15mpg you will be getting out of the Kwacka...
It's called HYPOCRISY. The indelible earmark. Here at the New Jersey shore there is a push going on from energy companies to construct wind turbines offshore in the Atlantic Ocean. Local politicians are leading the opposition for a variety of reasons- environmental concerns , impact on commercial fishing and more . I suspect the real fear is property values as many consider them eyesores. Here is the created image of what it may look like….. yet many of the property owners who oppose wind turbines

drive electric cars . Apparently they don’t recognize or care what demands there will be on the electric grid when everyone drives electric cars , thus fostering the need for additional means of generating electricity.
