I see there's an MOT amnesty for 6 months if yours was due...

Yes, IF it’s due... but if it already lapsed, ie before a winter lay up, the amnesty does not apply.

Best to check your MOT status folks, and get it done whilst you still can if needs be (many motorcycle shops are currently still open for repairs, inc MOTs, but who knows how long for)?

If you’re not already familiar with it, this site helps: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Without wishing to appear cynical (moi? never!).. is it another: 'We're all in it together..' PR excuse..

Here's a selection of greatest hits:

February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”

March 10: "It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."

March 13: National Emergency Declaration

March 13: “I don't take responsibility at all”

March 15: "TODAY IS A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER. GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"

March 16: "I give myself a 10 out of 10

March 16: “I’ve always known this is a, this is a real, this is a pandemic, I’ve felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic”

March 17: "It snuck up on us."

Didn't like him and neither curse nor ridicule the man. He had his turn and is in the past.
The above quote is in reference to Obama. It is wrong in that many, many times when trump is ridiculed for his unpreparedness he brings up Obama and blames him. trump will never be confused with Truman.
BTW I just saw this thread for the first time today. Wish I had caught it earlier.(the thread not COVID 19)

From our health secretary, also diagnosed positive today:
“And then from next Thursday, once I’m out of self-isolation and I hope with no more symptoms, then I’ll be able to get back stuck in and into the office where necessary.

“But the truth is that all of us can learn that working from home can be really, really effective.”

You quote my statement. Not Trump's... So don't state that I am wrong. Read it again.

It's alright coffee is consumed now.... I believe he suffers from footnmouth all too often and can't catch his balance because of that..... a patch on a patch on a patch on a patch. He just comes off looking a buffoon because he doesn't wait for all of the info to be collated. That is the major difference between he and a politician. Every time it happens it only serves to solidify his base even more because they, like him, are emotional and shoot from the hip most times.
We're in for much more contradictory BS before this virus plague subsides, and from all quarters at that. There's masses of fame & glory seekers clamoring about, so no telling what offshoot insanity is curdling & fermenting.

I have just read an article which makes another connected point, in that continued human infiltration into, particularly, tropical forests, puts local wildlife closer to human settlements, which in the longer term means more viruses jumping species, and some of them will likely be much worse than this one.
Hi is this the article you read? https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/mar/25/new-virus-china-covid-19-food-markets

I read that yesterday, too. It is very well-written and quite persuasive (to me)

stay well,

Martin

I agree with you here J.

And if history has taught us anything it is that emotional, shoot first ask questions later types make THE worst leaders.

Bosch are claiming to have developed a 'quick' coronavirus test.... Where's Joe Lucas when you need him?

Meanwhile in a reasonably sane country, our Mr.T. here in the Great White North has announced a new plan to cover 75% of salaries for small to medium businesses so employers can keep people in their positions or re-hire laid off folks. This is being applauded widely.

What refreshing difference from the daily US press conferences that typically drag on for an hour or two as Trump rambles over and over again. Trudeau does maybe 15 minutes concisely and on topic, then takes questions and gives relatively direct answers and admits when he doesnt know or needs to make a correction.
Its not hard folks, esp when the bar is so low compared to Trump.

Yahoo news headline:
'GP, 76, becomes first UK doctor to die after contracting coronavirus'
Story below reads:
'Although tests have not yet confirmed that Dr ****** died from covid-19, he displayed all the symptoms...
IF tests are positive, he will become the first to etc. etc...….
Never let the truth spoil a good story.
