With politics, I never know if I am seeing the overworld or the underworld. Coronavirus is destroying many businesses - I wonder how the drug dealers and other shysters are going these days ?
 
The biggest problem is a lack of data because of insufficient or in accurate testing. From the gate, there has been no standardized test. Different countries get different results. Here in the US the CDC was a cluster F and remains so

The result is that the denominators are unreliable. Initially the death rate far exceeded the number of people tested as positive which meant that we got those statements of 3 or 4% death rate. Now that the testing is catching up we see that the death rates are dropping below 1%. This is basic 4th grade fractions but no one in media or government mentions it. The denominator is FUBAR.

It’s a media driven sensationalized mess. Looks like it will be no worse than the H1N1 “Swine Flu” of 2009. At that time, Obama got a pass from the MSM. Now the politicians and bureaucrats are exploiting the crisis. The CDC under Obama the following 6 years. failed to restock the PPEs and despite budget increases post 2016 came into 2020 unprepared. Incompetent and criminal. Instead the answer to failed governmeent, as always, is more government.
 
Speaking of them I just finished cleaning up some drum mags in case. I hate reloading almost as much as lawlessness and insurrection, assaults on innocents, and myriad other nasty things fellow humans seem capable of in hard times.
 
don't know how true the following is but seems at least some some gangs in Brazil are doing the right thing
Gangs in Rio de Janeiro's favelas are imposing curfews to curb the Covid 19 outbreak because the government would not

Whatever Obama did or did not do is of little consequence today. What DOES matter is the president today. Donald Trump has demonstrated complete and total incompetency, a penchant for not telling the truth and a total disinterest in science, data and facts.

Trump got a tax cut for the wealthy and business. The conservatives got two Supreme Court justices. Looks like it is end for those things. The current crisis will hamstring Trump for the remainder of his presidency. Hopefully, for the good of the country and the rest of the world, he is defeated in November.

BTW, xbacksideslider, did you know Obama killed Lincoln, kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and masterminded the Watergate burglary ? Are you still sending money to Orly Taitz?

In case of what? The bad guys are armed, too. And a lot more desperate than you.

Lest you assume I’m anti gun, I have a well stocked gun safe and buy ammunition by the case.
 
When this pandemic is in our rear view mirror we had better plan and prepare for the next. Obviously, we were totally unprepared for this one. Maybe less wonder weapons and more masks and ventilators.

You know, I think it would be pretty funny to wear one on a bike, I have a sparkly vest and sparkly purple bike... that mask is really the final puzzle piece...
 
I've seen , to me, much stranger combos, but then I do come from another era. It to me forever to adjust to the days of punk back when we hunted dinosaurs.

Absolutely right.. at least the essential sinews of health care and service providers,such as shop workers should have PPE but incredibly neither the US nor the UK bothered to take these measures.

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

Additionally, CDC estimated that 151,700-575,400 people worldwide died from (H1N1)pdm09 virus infection during the first year the virus circulated. (Midpoint of that would be 423,700 deaths)

So, all up ~436,169 deaths in the first year.

That said, why wouldn't we bust a nut to reduce that as much as humanly possible?

You are correct Gortnipper; I did not mean to minimize the Swine Flu’s awful desaths, rather I meant to highlight the media’s double standard,
 
Don't believe a thing you hear coming from the CCP. There is absolutely no way a country packed full of elderly smokers where half a million people die each year from toxic smog has peaked at 80k cases.

But then I guess you can't confirm a case if you don't let the sick into the hospitals...
The real body count in China will likely never be totaled, the victims never remembered. And for what? Saving the face of the CCP?
 
Mr. Trump signs the $2 Trillion emergency bill, yet sneaks in a signing statement his administration does not recognize the congressional oversight provisions, calling them not mandatory but "horatory" (a ten dollar word from Mr.T?).

Looks like his Mar a lago resorts will do just fine now.
