Breather Box / Oil Air Seperator

When I ditched my airbox for K&Ns I took out the separator for just a small breather filter and ended up with an oily leg. Put it back on and no oil coming out so ugly bit of plastic it may be but it did seem to do the job. Fairly low down the list is a home made better looking one.

The reason you have that AOS black box, is because the design engineer who was working on the TSB for the rework (tsb#00014 iirc), had a Yamaha R6. He brought in the AOS from his R6 one morning, tried it against a production 961 and decided yep, that'll fit. So they had copies of the Yamaha unit made.
The reason why some suffer with oil concerns, and blow by, and various degrees of engine noise etc etc etc is inconsistency in tolerance quality. Statistically, you're bound to get one that's perfect.

@Stu Bodycote and that is confirmed as fact at around 0:13 in this video:

And @iwilson look what he replaces it for.........

Well, I wasnt looking for confirmation....I was stood next to the bike in question when he came in with his breather box lol. But, at least you can see for yourself where it originally came from

Apologies if it seemed like I was doubting you, definitely not my intent.

Information like this is kinda priceless, the more we can understand about parts on the bikes - the better off we are all going to be.

Tony,
Your AOS looks very automotive, but seems to work well.
I think it would actually be an interesting feature/conversation item if the glass were chrome /reflective with just a thin clear vertical strip to show the fluid level. Oh yeah, and of course with a Norton logo.
You might want to come up with a kit.;)

So - I'm not sure if anyone can answer this, but:

If the airbox is believed to be restrictive, and there is a line that goes directly from the rocker to the airbox - does the induction/negative pressure draw the oil vapour?

Haha nah its ok, it was said tongue in cheek mate

Was always something I pondered tbh
