Battery Hold Down Options

This might be more sacrilegious than a bungee cord but I might try a Guzzi battery strap. They actually used the exact same part from 1972 through to the early 2000s. It was originally a rear tank hold down strap and then later used as a battery hold down strap. I had it on my 1975 850-T and it’s on my 2001 V11 Sport. Pretty impressive. I’m not sure if it will work but I can take a look at it.

Dave what are the dimensions of the Guzzi battery strap?

I also got a bit fed up with the standard 06.1662 battery straps as they kept breaking and are a fiddle to fit so now use a 70 cm x 50mm wide
velcro strap "Alfatex by Velcro® Brand Heavy Duty Metal Buckle Adjustable Velcro Strap" from eBay as I hate Amazon. The battery base is located
in the standard rubber tray with a stiff rubber sheet between the battery and the oil tank. As the velcro strap is not very elastic I found putting a
soft rubber pad as per the petrol tank pads on top of the battery and tightening the velcro strap against it gave a more secure hold down

Back in the day I would sell the stock angle bar with two stainless steel spokes in a kit, now a piece of industrial strength Velcro does a better job, cleaner installation and really secure.
Interesting, I bought a kit like that from British Marketing 20+ years ago.
Just recently installed it for the first time on the Mk2 with a AGM and pad underneath.
