Waiting for parts , I have questions on Mk3 assembly.

what is technique for installing polished timing cover with the pesky spring and piston trying to leave the cover?

The three rear engine mount bolt 4 1/4" length, two install with nuts to right, the third goes "thin" nut to left with "thin" washers.
Does this third bolt go in bottom mount hole?

Put the spring and piston in and put a piece of wire in the rocker feed hole in past the piston to hold it in place while installing. Once the cover is on, pull out the wire.

The workshop manual shows which screws go where.

Thank you, I found that my original spring and piston were jammed tight in hole bottom .
Heated timing cover after removing the rubber seals, popped right out.

You cant stack a second spring and piston.

That sticking piston is a common problem and it will happen again rendering the anti-sump valve useless. Years ago I attempted to change the angle on the piston or round the end (don't remember which) to stop that. Years later, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'm not about to take it apart again for that. I just drain the sump.
