I'll get cracking on my new non-ICE Norton conversion as soon as I can find a reliable source of dilithium crystals.

Seriously, though, I've considered trying something like the high end Zero bikes, but once you get above city speeds, the range goes down drastically. The last time I checked, their best model with all the upgrades would be good for maybe 110 miles of 70 mph highway riding, up to 140 miles if I keep it down to 55 mph (pretty unlikely:rolleyes:). That's not quite enough for some of the local rides we do. In addition, that model is close to $25k out the door, and weighs 500 lbs. I suspect electric bikes will be practical for folks like me just about when I get too old and feeble to keep riding.

How long does it take to charge? If it's more than 10 minutes I'm out

Well thats always been blindingly obvious!

As is the inevitable rise of the ambulance chasing ”did you trip over a cable?” types.

But, looking at a near neighbours Tesla that he plugs in whilst parked on the street, I think there’s another more discreet option… park up next to him, unplug his charger and plug into your car. Provided you do this late at night and get up before he does, he’ll never know. You could potentially do this for years !!

Just heard an ad on the radio for some new Volvo EV... zero emissions, and at the end a statement that "zero emissions refers to tailpipe emissions only"

I guess people are asking awkward questions

I'm sure there's a: 'Failed suicide' joke in there somewhere, but I'm too sensitive to pull it out....

'As a side note, just yesterday, Audi announced its diesel V6 engines can now run on renewable fuels, reducing CO2 emissions by a whopping 70 to 95 percent.'

Let's hope this ain't another example of German sausage rolls......

Sorry! I meant pork pies :-)

But having said that, IMHO that’s where EVs actually do make sense, lowering LOCAL emissions in cities
Not according to recent data, the extra weight of the batteries increases the emissions of particles from brakes and tyres so you end up back at square 1.

Truth be told, when attempting to foist "green" solutions on everything from kites to kibble, you end up at square -73.

The ONLY "glory" that is ever presented is the instant end-user "advantage", WITHOUT analyzing all of the infrastructure, manufacture and background effects that are logarithmically WORSE for the environment.

EVs are the worst of the worst for sheer numbers, but the "green" lightbulbs would SHOCK you in their illogicality...

I hope you’re gunning for more than 8 horse power Norluck ?!?

Andy Molnar will be furious if you insult his fine chassis with 8 horse power !!

Dresden-based startup Hookie Co. just dropped a sick dragster that was their reinterpretation of Cake’s Ösa electric utility bike. Dubbed the ‘Silver Ant,’ this futuristic e-Motorcycle is made for drag racing. And while the idea of a silent drag race sounds strange, that’s exactly what you’ll be witnessing when the Silver Ant goes head-to-head with other bikes at the Glemseck 101 festival’s EV-only race this fall. The otherworldly motorcycle is promised to reach speeds of 100mph and has unique sprinting capabilities, including one brake and an aerodynamic rider position.
