961 USD Forks - Parts List

Yeah, got out early before the rush.
Got in some hard riding to check the oil in airbox fix.
My catch bottle is still dry, so am lovin' it!

Tony,

Are these split to fit around the tubes without removing the wheels?

Oh my goodness, leg warmers for forks.
I don't know if I'm secure enough in my masculinity to ride around with those on my bike.

I now have stock of oil seal/dust seal kits for both USD and RWU forks. Usual email if you require a set.

Great news - although We just got ours. My dad made his own tool and replaced his seals the other day. The seals in the Norton ARE slightly different from standard. So be aware to only get from Norton or double check the part numbers.

I can assure you this was not easy to get!!!! My dad blew his fork seals when he had his accident in 2015. He was not able to get parts from Norton - only the entire fork assembly (at the time - maybe things are different now with Rob on board) and we've been on the hunt for this document since 2015. He ended up using the forks from the parts bike and we let go hunting until...... last fall his new forks blew a seal. If you call Ohlins in USA they have no clue. Even when you call Ohlins in Europe they have no clue. We've had many documents sent to us from Ohlins that were close but not exact. This IS the actual Ohlins/ Norton Parts list. Thank you Google Translate. We still have no clue why this was so difficult hence why I'm sharing it with you. So now you can order seals if-and-when you need them. I suggest printing this out or saving it.

Here's a special note from my contact.
"USD forks are for track. Not for street. Just because they sell bikes with them for street does not mean they are best for it. It is because the market wants it this way. There is no benefit having USD forks for street speeds. USD requires extra care. They require constant detailed cleaning. These are things your Norton dealer will tell you at time of purchase. Öhlins tries best to make USD forks like the ones on your Norton motorcycle take harsh street elements. This is why your fathers bike and many others have this early failure. I suggest covering them with bellows or don't ride in bad weather."

So what I took from that was ->>>> KEEP 'em CLEAN BOYS!!!!

Enjoy.
PS - if you want the original PDF email me and ask.

Hi Richard,
Is there any chance of a copy of the Ohlins forks parts info. I own Norton 961's with conventional and USD forks. Any info would be appreciated.

You may not hear from Richard . An Ohlins dealer can help you . There is a part number somewhere on the forks .

This is the parts list for the early RWU (Right Way UP) forks. They are a bit reduced in resolution to keep the file sizes down to forum standards. I'll see if I can get the full resolution images of them added to the resources area.
