Has anybody changed the USD fork seals on the 961. I can find only conflicting info on this. Some say you need special tools others say not. Any advice would be appreciated

Welcome Jagsam
Well, it looks as though nobody has, but if you P.M. Dan Kyle or email him direct dan@kyleusa.com he will be able to tell you, as he's an Öhlins dealer.

@Dan Kyle

Hope that helps and please update the thread, all this info. is very useful.

Cheers,

cliffa.

These are not "Norton" tools, You need the top nut tool, the castle socket tool (Ohlins 04702-03 R&T conventional)to pull the cartridge and a fork seal driver(or two pieces of sch 40 PVC cut in half) to set the seals. Seal driver from Motion Pro is what we use but the PVC method works on odd sizes

The manual instructions are fine to follow with some basic suspension knowledge but beware if you raise the forks too much or don't purge properly you will have issues.

oil is Ohlins 01309-01 with a viscosity of 19.0 centistokes at 40° Celsius (similar SAE 7.5 W) R&T

The Ohlin tool manual is to large to attach. if you need a copy to determine tools PM me.

I’ve just had my USD fork seals replaced, I got the seals from a race shop at silverstone via eBay , had them done this week with new tyres & MOT at “ Ryders motorcycles “ sittingbourne in Kent , must say they done them without any drama , charged me 2 hours Labour & the oil , it’s transformed the Front end , forks were diving too quick & were soft b4 the seal leaked .
Off to Wales next weekend on it , weather looks promising, can’t wait .
