Les, you mention the normal stem thread was 3/8" UNF (24 tpi) but I am measuring a stem thread of 3/8" 20 tpi on the 4 new mirrors I have which seems to be an unusual thread count.

Yes but all my new mirrors are 3/8" X 20. Confused on why they are if not standard for mirror threads. So would they be 3/8" BSF mirrors?

Ok, as all the (fitted and spare) British bike mirror stems I have are 3/8" x 24 UNF.

If not BSF, could they be M10 x 1.25mm?

I have no idea, but the mirrors from AN are 3/8" x 24 and as far as I know that's what they have always been since the master cylinder was provisioned for a mirror. Where did you get the new mirrors?

They could be and likely not British mirrors but I was trying to use what I had. I am not familiar with metric threads but I know that a 10mmF X 8MM M adapter screws right on. My thread gauge measures 20 tpi exactly so I think you may be right. I could probably try and find the correct mirror stem but striking out this side of the pond. Taps at 20 tpi are rare as well.

They were given to me so I was hoping to use them as just a stem from AN is pricey when shipping is added. Probably standard for Harleys or something.

RGM makes clutch and brake lever backs (in black or polished AL) that are threaded for mirrors.

Haven't checked in on this post for a while sorry to see and hear about your luck. Where mirrors are involved other then building a original bike, bar end mirrors really look clean. But free is hard to beat!

I just had a rear tire put on and am attempting to install the wheel. My question has to do with the washer (# 21) between the drum and brake shoe. My understanding is that this should fit over the 1st step on the stub axle which it does but very sloppy. Should the inner diameter of the washer be close to the outer diameter of the stub axle?

"Brake Plate Baking Washer, 13/16″ x 1-1/4″

I think I found the correct one in my box of parts. I am measuring .83" X 1.25" with a thickness of .003". Hard to tell from the pic on baxter cycle but it appears to be thicker. What I am quite sure of is that this is the one that came out.

Re taps you might try a John Deer dealer as they have a mix metric and other threads

Can anyone recommend an appropriate, readily available (USA) 19" front tire for the stock WM2 rim? I have seen many threads suggesting not to use a 100/90 - 19 on a 1.85" rim.

In the short term, AVGAS, VP or Sunoco race fuel is all non-ethanol, so will be compatible with the glass tank and will do NO damage.

Thank you. Luckily I have access to non-ethanol fuel 25 miles from here for the short term. ($6/gal)
