72 750 Combat Roadster project

You haven't really sweated until you are installing a tight fitting gas cap hinge pin in a freshly painted tank. Requires nerves of steel.

Great looking parts, to go along with the rest of the bike. Flawless.

I’ve got a REALLY big hammer ....

So here it is at long last ! Tinware arrived yesterday evening - Christmas in June ! Installed fuel cap & mountings this morning . A few odds & ends yet to do . I need to make a strap for the rear tank hold down as the one I purchased is too short . The tank needs to be drawn down a little in the back to sit right but need strap to do so. Mountings for side covers need a little fussing with and installation of petcocks/fuel lines then ready for road test.

Do you really plan to ride this bike , it almost too nice to take out on road and use it .... looks better than they did when fresh from factory , good on you !

Soon ! Waiting on a piece of stainless to make rear tank strap - the one I bought is too short. Don’t know if you deal with McMaster/Carr but they are amazing. I’ll have it tomorrow.

You‘re using a Corbin right? I don’t use the rear strap at all as my Corbin wedges the tank in / down very securely...

Hi FE - Yes my seat is Corbin but I want to minimize the force of the seat against the paintwork . I don’t know what vintage your Corbin is but this is a current one and they have cheapened them somewhat . My original had a nice piece of suede on the nose where it met the tank . The new one is just seam, stitching & pop rivets. The seat pan on my original was very smooth and nicely finished with several inspection stickers initialed by inspectors- now the pan is molded of some very coarse (likely recycled) material and no evidence of any inspection. The upholstered hump also had a dent in it . If I wasn’t planning on making a cowl I would have returned it.
Corbin is slipping a bit in my eyes.

I think mine is pretty much the same as yours.

Mine needs to be fairly hard against the tank in order to be secure.

What a bike...
Really came out beautifully. Glad to have seen it take shape from the beginning.

Even the hydrangea showed up.
I don't know if you can get a shot with the flower reflection in the paint but I bet that would be a sight.

Just beautiful.

Congrats ! Looks beautiful , soon you will have it so it go as good as it show ..... really cool ride !

Absolutely stunning job Rick. Those fuel lines are never going to look that good again. It would have been the perfect bike to show at the National in July.
