I love the bronzed look, this may be a silly question but did any models come out with the bronze/brass header nuts as standard? Were they on the 69 and 70 models?

As far as I know none of the 750's came with bronze nuts. Don't know about the 850's, but I think it is purely a after market item.

Dave any chance of posting a photo of the muffler mounting brackets as i suspect i am missing one, i have the brachet frome the shock mount 061304, but i am not sure what 061307 looks like.
thanks Al

Al,
Here ya go. I had a new stay (1307) made up in stainless, thicker than the original which was pretty beat up and very rusty. As you can see I need to chase the threads in the silencer to get the rubbers to go in all the way. I also bought a stainless bracket from RGM, but am worried that the welds are not as good as the original which cracked up where it mounts under the shock, I am thinking about having it beefed up locally.

Top one is RGM bottom original. The RGM one is made differently.

Al,
You can also look up the Norton Workshop Manual for 70 and up and it includes a picture diagram of all the exhausts including the 'S'. It's available online, if you need the link I'll look it up, but you can probably just google it or search this board. It's a 7Meg pdf and unfortunately protected from printing but you can look at it on the computer all day long or do a screen capture.

This is a very good copy of the manual i think you refered to and yes i have a copy ,i had been looking at the diagram you discribed but that mount was obsured, i had brought a new system ayear or more off ebay [command specialties] but that bracket was missing looks easy enough to make.
Again the help you have provided me over the last few months is greatly appreciated.

Headsteady, new oil line and coils/bracket installed. Only cleaned up the headsteady parts with the anticipation of something better down the line. Ordering parts for old carbs from Amal, metal banjo fitting at bottom of carb, new needle clips, small items. The oil filter installation, paint oil tank is next while waiting for carb/fuel line parts. Cleaned up brake, clutch and throttle cables, they are serviceable.

Did you get complete rebuild kits from Amal or just some parts? Did you go for the adjustable floats?

No, I'm just getting the new adjustable stay up floats, new Viton tipped needles and the 2 metal banjo fittings (to replace the plastic ones) from the bowl to the fuel line and the brass filters. I already have the gasket kits for them. I'll be looking around in town for some fuel line and crimp on connectors of some sort. It may be I can get it made up at this place I go to get hydraulic lines made for my tractor, but they may not have fuel line stuff. RGM has a reasonable priced ($30) H type fuel line assembly, but it has the plastic banjo fittings so I'm just going to make up my own.

I have plenty of oil line left if anyone wants some for a small price.

As soon as we get some good weather, I'll attempt the tank. I have to paint outside.

DupliColor MetalSpecks Blue out of a spray can. Not nearly as nice as original, but acceptable to me for the price.

Tank painted, started raining so will have to put off the clear coat until it clears up.

Lookin' good! Kinda hard to be patient when you are getting down the final stretch?

The blue is about right, but the metal flecks are real small, only silver flecks. The original had black and silver over the blue with much larger flecks. Here's a sample of the original.
