Thanks all. Hope I get time to work on it today.
I happened to have that hacksaw in my garage!
I happened to have that hacksaw in my garage!
‘Bronze’... got it. ThanksCut slots in the bush with a hacksaw blade (in a holder or end wrapped with tape) until it either loosens or can be broken into pieces.
Sintered bronze ('Oilite').
I have a very complete selection...
As far as removing old bushings, I just yank on the stanchion tube till they pop out. No tool needed...
It's a cheater pipe for leverage. Just a plain ol' pipe wrench on the end.I have that jack stand!!
What on earth was the huge pipe wrench originally for?
Indeed I did, sorry.Must have missed my explanation. The circlip securing the bottom bushing somehow gave way...
Photos you took before you ripped it all out
Basically the main harness is routed down the left side of the spine, through the center grommet above the oil tank to the rear battery area. This is where most of the connections are made. Upfront the coil, points etc..are generally organized in the triangle above/the coil mounts. From there the everything goes into the headlight.
This is how I have mine and it works for me. I'm sure some others here have alternatives etc...
It's not too complicated.
