Just like in Field of Dreams: "If you build it, they will come."

If you want to hear from Hobot then somebody, just start a new Drouin thread.

Or a thread on Combat engines or how fast you think you can ride a Norton on gravel roads!!!
Regards Mike

I like Steve's enthusiasm over the Norton brand,
but honestly...... I don't miss the constant thread derails or the rambling posts that I never quite understood and eventually started ignoring.

Every now and then he did say something constructive or post a funny pic.
Good luck hobot, whatever you may be up to at the moment.

+1 Just a little punctuation would fix it.

A couple years ago, I thought he'd join us in TN for some back road reindeer games... I was looking forward to being schooled on THE gravel....

Hobot: When you left the Nortonlist all those years ago, I missed ya. Coming back to the house from work and reading your stories of adventure ( WOT, gravel spraying, etc. ) made me smile and sometimes laugh out loud. Some of the fun at that sit left with you. Take care. Frank

Steve: I'm not on the forum very often, and tend to ask neophyte questions--because I'm new. People like you are what make forums so wonderful. Ask a dumb question, get an indulgent answer. You have helped me enormously over the last couple of years with your responses. Don't let the on-line nay-sayers get you down. They will always be out there, and they will always say negative things. Think of it this way: imagine going through life like them. Blow them a big raspberry, my friend.

Hey maybe Steve has a completely different scenario going down too . Does anyone know his last name ? With a last name we have the telephone directory at least. We know it's all from the bush in Arkansas. Perhaps he hit a deer at night and he's in a body cast. Could be true.

Nah, he's ok, let on he was tired of some BS online (think it was another site). :|

He did get injured. He sent photo's but they were so nasty I had to delete them. Not out of the normal leg wounds he usually suffers.

I know his name and business address and Phone number. I would PM it if someone needed it, but I won't stick it out here for all to see.
Anyone can find it if they dig in the right direction.

I hope he's ok... When I modified my bike with a reed breather to stop oil leaks, he commented that without an oily bike, I would now have to worry about the nuts on my bike getting rusty... Pretty funny, but true way to look at it... Hope you're ok man...

Precisely. After fitting new never leak seals to my forks, they started going rusty in the rain on a trip round the south island. I now wipe an oily rag on them occasionally.

I don't like the stupid advice coming from some people on this forum so now I just bite my tongue. Good advice Blaise. Are you going to Gisborne.

ps I am not referring to the occasional mistake made by some members. Its the blatant stupidity by very few.

Where I live ... we are all allowed to take ball and glove and go home .... if you want to ... no questions ...

Not saying anything just lets the majority be lead up the garden path,
and/or the blunders bloopers and typos go uncorrected.

Someone who looked in on this forum a while back noted that a few posters either were totally gaga,
or were deliberately misleading folks, for reasons that can only be guessed at....

As of late last week, hobot was alive and well with an ongoing plethora of projects. The goose he gave to his wife looks especially cute in its coconut bra and grass skirt.

According to his email to me he is ok. Could be like me, just browsing without logging in. Has he submitted 15,000 posts. Maybe his fingers are tired. Be patient. When he is ready he MIGHT let us know.

look at the bottom of any page and you can see who is on line, I see old Steve pop up once in a while, makes me glad. He helped me out a couple of times.

Resurrecting this very pertinent thread from years ago. Where's this guy at? Seems I only had a few months of tutelage in Hobot-Speak before he disappeared.

There is plenty in the archives to keep anyone busy for a long long time.

Ah, but simply reading in a new language is not nearly as educational as conversing in one.
