If you're going to do any rub a dub dub stuff in situ, you will need beer and a radio.

And if the missus says - "what are you doing?" the standard answer is "What you do every morning in front of the mirror".

the factory made it stronger for a reason. I don't think I would push my luck to far with a known issue.
Well, I'm a pretty casual rider. 500 miles this summer and I keep a pretty good eye on everything. Thanks though for much less than $100 the 850 headsteady is easy.

Windy, I'll see what I can fish out this spring. I can't do TN on the bike from here, it's just too much for me at 69, at least that's what I think. I'd have to trailer or get it in the P/U. I've been down in your area and it's really nice.

We'll see.

Thanks,

The fuel lines changed routing and they did away with the crossover pipe somewhere loosely around 1973. It is cleaner looking and you don't have to think about it bursting into flame. Different banjos on the carbs are used and the joining pipe is right at the banjo fittings.

I would say Skyguyz method of making it pretty has a lot going for it.

ML had the answer part right any way...just drink more beer. It works on women, why not a Commando mill?

My two cents for making your engine look a little better if that's what you want. Take a hint from skyguyz above. Shine some of your low end like his, maybe some fresh bolts. Black in the middle & clean the top a bit. Leave some "patina". Don't try too much. I think it's the contrast between the shiny parts & the semi shiny with black in the middle that I love.

Pink ribbons and some flowers on it ? ? . Tough , is what it needs to look ! , I 'd stick with the silver ( alloy   8) Barrels .

Stainless nut set maybe ?? All the bolts need to be kept EVEN , particularly UNDOING , though .

I had my engine soda blasted:

Of course it was easy because I removed the engine for a restoration.
