To be honest, I don’t think they were finished in a way that stood up to corrosion well at all. Mine was a real low mileage example and had hardly seen rain etc, yet still the engine paint was starting to lift in places. Kinda made me think that if it was actually USED to earn its keep, it’d look pretty bad pretty quickly!

I wonder if your man dropped it due to the numb hands syndrome ;)
Corrosion could have been from just using the bike, I suppose. Like it was designed for right!? Wish I could be a bit more like that!! Can’t leave mine in the garage for more than a day or so when dirty, after a ride. It’s like a severe itch ya‘ just gotta’ scratch. Not happy until the thing is clean again! Same with all my bikes. I think it‘s some kind of psychological disorder! I wonder if you can get pills!?

Apparently he dropped it getting carried away on one of the faster bends at Lakeside track. Racebike patina I suppose. Sorry got to go, I spotted some dust on the Norton! o_O

Sure enough.
Too bad.

The man was a genious! The BST carbon wheels on my Norton are very similar in configuration to the wheels he‘s holding. Guess they can be traced right back to him.

I've spent two afternoons in the canyons trading off with my friend's 2019 650 RE Interceptor. He's modified the stock Enfield's mufflers' internals; it's still quiet but it IS stronger. First day I was on my KTM 525 EXC; the second on my T140. Both times, no matter who rode which bike, the RE bested my machines. That RE is sneaky fast; wide power band, good brakes, good handling. Easy to be smooth. Handles better than the T140 and its powerband beats the KTM's greater but narrower power. In sets of turns that required the KTM to shift, that RE can stay in one gear. Flat out easy to ride fast. Admittedly, the T140 needs equivalent tires, 32s, and suspension tuning. As for the KTM; its modified too; before that day, I'd would have bet on the KTM - lighter and more peak power. got humbled.

Thaiumph Speed Twin playing dress-up.

Think my next bike will be the KTM Super Duke 1290R.
I know it’s ugly. But it’s a twin, good hp and tq at lower rpm compared to a v4 and it’s light. It’s growing on me.

That ought to give the Diavel a run for it's money ! I don't think its ugly , it looks good.

I am luvin my new toy, its fast, handling is good, it doesn't feel as heavy as the R1200RS it has replaced and despite the power and torque figures being slightly lower than the BMW's it feels faster, a lot faster. How do they do that? I always had the feeling that the BM wasn't giving me what I asked for, fly by wire.

This is the only bike I have ridden in the last 20 years or so that doesn't send my hands to sleep, I had a 260mile round trip on it on Monday and zero numbness in the hands, worth buying just for that reason alone.

It isn't perfect but we do like to change things don't we?

What I have bought.

Nice bike . MXMartin just traded his away for something else , a Duc I think . It amazes me how different everyone's tastes and perceptions are. I am looking at the KAW Z H2 , but won't be buying this year.

FTR was a great all-round machine for me but after a year of ownership I just couldn't put up with the ecu fuelling quirks any longer, even with a PV3 and various U.S. maps. Then Indian does a recall on the map to get rid of the cold start stalling (which mine didn't suffer from) BUT they use a new software, so every aftermarket map written specifically for the FTR/PV3 combo was no longer compatible and the map developers were struggling to get customer bikes up and running properly. Shame.

Are you saying that Voodoo will regret the purchase of the KTM Super Duke ? You have a dislike for KTM ?
What you talk’n about Willis?
What I'm trying to say is that I believe the most treasured bike purchases (other than those bought for basic transportation only) are the bikes that you immediately fall in love with, lust for from day one, get your heart racing when you see/hear them, and desire more and more each day. If you have to let a bike or car 'grow on you', you may appreciate its performance or utility, but will it ever be loved?
So, I buy them with my heart, not my head. This has been my experience. YMMV

I wonder if mine has had the new map because it runs very well, none of the problems I read about. I fitted a Bassani pipe on it the other day and it even runs with that, I haven't loaded the map for it yet as I am not sure if it is staying on, that thing isn't a silencer, it is an amplifier, and the problem is, it isn't a good sound, I made a db killer for it last night and have yet to try it but apart from that, I cannot keep off it, even in the poor weather we are having.:)
