Although I agree with all of the above
It's not the fault of scooter it's the fault of how they are being used
We don't have enough police to police their use
They are not registered,they don't have a number plate so can't be traced
I came close to hitting a kid on one the other night
He was dressed in black the scooter was black it was only the fact it was shining a small half moon light on the road that I saw it
He crossed the road (dual carriageway) in front of me he went from the inside lane to the outside lane and then onto the central reservation
Imagine if I'd hit him!

You/he were lucky, it's only a matter of time until there are lots of accidents (warm summer nights) I think there will be carnage, we have so many reckless lawless morons in this country and no effective deterrent against anything.

Trouble was he was wearing a baseball cap, it was around 7pm so it was very dark and he was heading away from me crossing the road at an angle
I could just make out his light on the road
Had he been coming towards me I would have seen him sooner
Or even if he was wearing something lighter!
 
Dashcams are cheap. Maybe time for one (or two?) on the front windscreen, and one looking backwards? They seem to record good video, even in low light.

Al if its a crime to ride electric scooters then why are they allowed, electric push bikes and scooters are legal but put a fuel running motor in them then they need to be reg. and insured for the road.
Councils are getting throw backs from these scooter operators to run their business as well I have a friend who is a nurse in the ER and a day don't go by from injuries from these scooters or incent people getting knocked over by them, they are a eye sore where ever you go in our city, dumped anywhere and everywhere, I can see in the future hopefully they will get banded, but when money and throw backs are involved and now with them being used for crime then the sooner the better.
I was sitting on my front porch the other morning when a young lad went past on a electric scooter (not a hire one) he was going so fast when he took the corner (T section) he crossed the other side of the road because he was going so fast, just lucky no car was there or he would have been killed for sure and no safety helmet or any safety gear and the blood speed he was doing with such small wheels.

The major political ethos is neoliberal individualism, these days. Lack of regulation means that individuals are free to do as they like, but we need more watchdogs with arbitrary powers. What you then find is the government neuters the watch-dogs because their political friends might get bitten. These is one thing which Friedrich Hayek said - 'if a person is left entirely to their own devices, they will usually stray to the path of rightiousness'. - Like most of his stuff, it is bullshit - but politicians choose to believe it.

Al you think the young ones of today respect the law, no matter what rules are made for these things the young ones will always do break those rules, look at wear helmet laws for riding push bikes, I have never seen many riding with their helmets, youth today just laugh at and disregard the law and cops as they know they can get away with it and if they ever go to court they always get a slap on the hand, youth crime in AUS is getting out of hand.

So it can add 200 miles in 20 minutes!!
That would drive me insane
I'm bad enough having to wait at a petrol station for a pump if there are more than one person in front of me
And when it's a pay at pump option they still pay in the shop
Does my head in
 
Where I live there is no helmet requirement (engine size) nor proof of health insurance required. The majority are absolutely clueless. They believe they really are cute on their new toy.
Don't even get me started on the pass the authorities give to the 4 wheelers and other modified small engine howlers buzzing around.
BUT, if your are a legally licensed and insured motorcycle rider you have to answer responsibly for your actions on the road.
Just another PC influence in action.

It’s not the 20 minutes to charge YOUR car that’s the issue... it’s the fact there’ll be a queue of 2,4,6 (who knows how many) in front of you.

The media celebrate stuff like this as if it’s some kind of huge breakthrough. It’s not. It’s a drop in the ocean!

If the govt targets are gonna be met and work, we’ll need 3 or 4 times MORE of those than existing petrol stations.

And why hasn’t anyone yet mentioned the problems we’re gonna have as demand outstrips supply? Kinda difficult to charge your electric car and heat your electrically heated home during a power cut...

Meet up at the charging point whilst waiting your turn have a coffee
Get to the charging point and go and have another coffee
A bit like people in the mark's an Spencer garage that fill up then go shopping leaving their car at the pump!!!
In fairness Eddie your gas central heating won't work either if there's a power cut
That's why I'm getting myself a wood burner

(Just googled the new requirements coming in! How are they going to police anyone burning 25% moisture content wood?)
