I was told of this method to synch Tridents, which takes a lot longer to get three balls to drop exactly the same time, but can be done on a bench with the carbs and gantry off the bike.
I drilled & tapped the manifolds of my trident years ago as the "Twist drill method" just didn't cut it for me
then its simple job to use vacuum or mercury manometer to accurately set them

That's what I do on my trident it's been a game changer
Well it was until I fitted mikunis
I found with the amals they had to be balanced with vacuum guages but the mikunis are hugely forgiving and would easily balance with twist drills etc
I can only assume it's the superior fit of the slides in the Miks ?

Recently went to remove an outer primary cover on a recent Mk III purchase. It wouldn't budge, and yes for all the skeptics out there I had all the bolts out. I think they used Yamaha Bond to seal it. I hate to see the big screwdriver marks from either prying or driving into crack. Special tool #199! I knurled the outer edge so I wouldn't be tempted to use a wrench and break outer case or strip threads. A little pressure and a little heat it left loose!

Gene, Great idea. What is the diameter, thread pitch & length of your tool?

A tool I have that is very handy when servicing the bottom left shock mount on a Commando is an eBay $15 free ship,
Capri Tools Super-Thin Open End Wrench 1/2 x 9/16.
Just grind the 9/16 end to fit the chain guard pocket.

Sabre and I both mentioned this tool back in posts #109 & #114. Capri wrench is also available on Amazon, see post #114. Craftsman also has entire set of these thin wrenches available.

I was sorting my special tools for a Commando bin and spotted the Pusher.

Its main purpose is to push the rivets out of the steering head data plate. (quietly)
That means if a good data plate was to be reused (frame paint) it could be removed easily with no damage and the original rivets could be reused (maybe in the same hole they came out of)
I read online you could bash the rivets out or grind the rivet and plate into submission (maybe the frame a little also) but thought that to easy.

Great for removing the “ made of the cheapest material for
Walmart “ stamp on safety critical fasteners …

I wish I had a small lathe for doming/reproducing fixing bolts. A file and emery paper takes time. Yours look like they come out nice.

I hope your aluminum creation works better than my steel A.N. one . Just received it in my latest order and the edges were cut so sharp that it ate into the plug slots. Had to bastard file the edges to go in nicely.

Yes - that is why I used aluminum.
