My favorite was my stepson's Virginia Military Institute saying for football games in the mid-80s: "Nuke 'Em Til They Glow!" I have no idea if they invented it, but it has been used many times since they used it. The sad part is that they couldn't win a game - everyone had to be thin and fit and that did not work well for football! It is even used in medicine sometimes today referring to radiation treatments for cancer - of course, it's not intense enough for the patient to glow but it does show on a real-time scanner as a glow.
