Thruxton R details

Wow that looks great. Would you trust a thousand miles with it attached like that? I would think it would be a lot better if it could reach the pillion footpeg gusset?

It's on there securely, or will be once the quick buckles are in place. There might be a little Fab work to get those buckles mounted as they are specific to the Thruxton.

I had the same bracket/bag setup on my 2006 T100 for years.
Plenty secure.
Never had a problem with either wind or rain.

I was more wondering about the added weight on the isos which want to break anyway.

I see your point.

I don't think the pannier will bother the ISO as the actual weight coming on there is very little, with the pannier bracket also being attached to the shock bolt at top. The bracket may actually serve as a brace for the ISO.
The panniers end up weighing around 12 -15 lbs when loaded, so it's not much.
Time and travel may prove me wrong however......

Glen,

I just read a copy of this months Bike magazine in the UK.

There is an article of the supercharged Thruxton R that you mentioned a little while back.

It reads very well indeed. The tester can hardly praise it enough.

A DIY kit is available from the same firm (TTS) for approx. £3600...

With the weak pound etc, that's not crazy money.

Jus' sayin' ...

I saw that Nigel, interesting read.
I can barely handle the power output as is. As you mentioned after your test ride, open the throttle at 4 grand and it hits really hard.
And right now the bike is very pretty. With the Supercharger on there, not so much, it starts looking a bit Panzer Division.

So I don't think I'll be a buyer.

When I want to really scare myself, I ride the Egli. It's always good for a few heart palpitations. The first ones come from kicking it over. Then there's riding the beast

NOT the correct answer Glen !!

Looks like Frank Melling likes it.
Full review is in October Classic Bike Guide. They put this much online-

YOU’RE IN A rush, right? You want to go out for a ride, not read a magazine.I’ll come straight to the point. The Triumph Thruxton R is not only the best-ever retro bike made, it’s one of the greatest motorcycles of all time.
If you love classics, you’ll sell your kidney for this bike. If you are thirty-something, then you’ll be trading in your R1. Triumph dealers all over the world can confirm this, as the Rs fly out of their showrooms. The Thruxton R is at the top of the Bonneville family tree but shares the family gene pool with the Street Twin 900 and its even more closely related sibling, the T120 Bonneville 1200.So, at the heart of the R is the same twin-cylinder, eight-valve engine with twin counter balancers and 270º firing order. The result is a thoroughly modern, vibration-free engine that still retains a lovely anthropomorphic feel as the big pistons bang up and down in the barrels. It’s a really clever job that Triumph has done, melding an authentically classic feel into something young riders will find acceptable.
