The embarrassing throwback pictures of your/our/my bikes & me

Back in the oily jean donkey jacket days. Must have been about 1980 in Maldon Essex, England
There are still Commandos running up Fambridge/Spital Road/Market Hill :)

I was still rolling about on my Goldwing back then figuring it would be forever before I retired and brought my Norton back to life..... Guess what? Forever isn't all that long, but I can tell you for certain it hurts and is about 35 pounds heavier for the Norty to pull around.
Have I mentioned of late how much I love that old bike?

At a glance looks like you’ve worn your right knee slider out to your skin

Oh yes those knee sliders where invaluable...

don’t know how I’d have managed without them...

kneeling down in a gravelly paddock working on the bikes between races...!

Racing, with a drum brake, cue acotrel...

I was hoping that’d slip through unnoticed!

But yes, it’s a miracle... someone racing with a drum brake... and they SURVIVED... !!

And it’s a Triton...

I was wishing mine had at least had a drum up front the night I laid hard on that Lockheed handle and received a fistful of fluid shortly before reaching the end of the road.... No joy going through a chain link fence.... Might have made it with a nice sweet old fashion 'cable operated' TLS.
I've had drum brakes fade before.... I've never had them completely fail on me providing they're maintained. The rear drum is only good to keep ….. well, I've never figured what they're really good for..... keeping it from sliding around.... slowly down in a leisurely manner, mounting the sprocket, so there's something for the left foot to do, etc.... Nah, I do use it, but don't give it credit.... Just no fat stops when needed.

This is my new Guzzi and me in 1975. Rode the crap out of that bike. Loaded pic is during our trip to the west coast. Figured out on that trip we needed bags and a fairing. Oh to be young again.

Bags and Fairing. I could not agree with you more. But I don't really go anywhere now. Just around the Duchy.
Take the car otherwise....I'm old and lazy.

Me from about 1977...this bike looks like a beast but it was fun to ride. Sorry about the photobucket thing across the middle but I don't know how to retrieve it without that damned thing.
