SCS Delta 400 Users Group

I have just done a fuel mileage check with the Delta 400 ECU finally. I did my 70 mile loop with my usual kind of driving , shifting by 5000 rpm and cruising at 4500 rpm 75 mph , (70 mph actual) It was only 40.95 MPG , Idles great and goes very well especially 4000 RPM and higher !
 
What's the cost in US? I need to buy a fuel tank too so about to spend a chunk of change. My tank is bubbling AND leaks.
 
Is the typhoon the unit that is sort of wedge shaped ?

Oh , I forgot to mention after that 125 mph run , still idles great ! 1200 rpm.

I would like to know if you unlocked your Typhoon before purchasing the Delta 400. If so is the Delta 400 worth the money. I have installed a Power Commander 5 (12-009) on my 2013 961 sport and have just come from a dyno setup. The PV5 map is excellent for power on, however I have a fast idle that is around 2000 and not controlled by PC5. I need only to have control of idle so do I unlock the Typhoon or purchase the Delta 400. How did you purchase the Delta 400 and from Whom! I have already purchased the cables to view the limited Typhoon info and to be able to adjust the idle. However with the extra air intake the ECU is dumping more fuel into the engine. My throttle butterfly is completely closed. The Idle set screw does not even touch the arm of the throttle. My system consists of opening the air box intake to 90mm and using the double foam filter, de-cat pipe and long open sport exhaust. I also use Shell 91 only. Any help would be grateful.

Get the software and cable and interface box from SCS Delta. Use SXCar and get started with idle control readings . If the IAM is not closing enough , it doesn't matter how closed the throttle valves are . Did your idle problem start with the PC5 installation ?
 
She’ll 91? I’ve blindly been using 98 RON only without any real thought to why, beyond premium fuel for premium bike! Realise that could be a flawed approach. What are others using - experiences?

Mmmmmm! RTFM - the manual says ‘only use 95 RON’. At worst I hope that I have just been wasting my money!?

The threaded holes in the exhaust pipes are 12mm . I am not using the O2 sensors , but rather the resistor plugs in their place. I am not sure what the other Delta 400 users are doing , this is what I am doing. I know my bike ran better without the O2 sensors and using resistor plugs in when running the SC Typhoon . When I converted to the Delta 400 , the resistor plugs are still installed , so if there is a benefit to running the O2 sensors I can't say yet .

My SC Typhoon is locked and I was using SXCar to connect to it .

I to have installed the resistor plugs in my 961 and they seem to work OK. After emailing a log of my attempt to set up the idle, including a pic of the gauges from the SXCar idle setup procedure, Matthew feels the idle stepper chip inside the original ECU is damaged and as the Typhoon retired some five years ago, there are no parts to repair. I may have to go the route of the 400 or install a manual valve. I don't think a manual valve is the way to go. Have you been able to iron out the bugs in the 400 to date.

Yes Bill , If you are referring to the normal running , starting and idle . All of these things are working OK as supplied by SC Delta. The side stand cutoff and tip over issue was resolved earlier this year with a new Bin file , this was our only issue now resolved. To date there are only about 4 members I know of who have the Delta 400 . Myself , Claudio , lcrken and iwilson . There may be others , I have not seen them on the forum. I never used a Dyno Jet power commander , so my impressions are bound to be different to yours . My experience from a SC Typhoon with the (#077 Map) to the SC Delta 400 with (Norton 961 with Race Cans Map) was a good deal more power from 4000 rpm up. It was surprising to say the least the extra kick it had that first time out. The response below say 2000 to 4000 rpm seems soft and gentle by comparison. It really acts like it now comes on the cam so to speak , and if driven in that 4000 to 7000 rpm range really keeps it on the boil. This Delta 400 ECU and map have really converted this bike from roadster to sport mode for lack of a better term. I managed to raise the rpm limiter 250 rpm which helps and now I get good long pulls to 7k and beyond which really keeps this thing flowing in the power as I hook through the gears. The problem I have with it now is that I am always reaching higher in the rpm range because it works so well there now.
