It is with sadness that I have to inform the forum of the death, yesterday morning, of one of our forum contributors, bigstu, who was killed as he rode to work on his Norton. I understand that he was in collision with a fork lift truck that was crossing the road that he was on, and his bike caught fire.

I didn't know him very well, but on a club ride out in North Yorkshire about three weeks ago whilst talking to him, found out that he used this forum and was indeed "bigstu" which of course was ironic as he was smaller than I am @ 5'6" (see his posts about lowering the suspension). He was a very laid back sort of a chap, friendly and very easy to get on with, and on that day my wife and I spent some time with Stuart and his partner getting to know them. I have to say I am quite shocked.

I am sure that other members of the forum will with me want to extend their deepest sympathies to his partner Rona, and of course BIGSTU will be missed by us here.

A sad day indeed. Bigstu's contributions here will be missed.
My condolences to Rona. May he RIP

Very sad news indeed. My condolences to his family and friends. I, for one, will miss him.

Sad news indeed, condolences to all his family and friends, he will be missed without a doubt.

Tragic news, very sorry to hear it.

I just hope he didn't suffer, and that Rona will be comforted in some small way by knowing how much his friends cared for him.

Even with a spotter and eyes in the back of our heads, the dangers on the street are unbelievable. BE CAREFUL, EVERYONE.

Very sad news. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. He will be missed here on the forum too.

What awful news. I will miss his comments on the forum. He was always there with helpful contributions to us new guys and genuinely interested in what everyone had to say. It is such a tragic and useless loss for all us that knew him through this forum . You don't have to physically meet someone to know they are a kind and giving soul. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

Any of you UK guys that knew him interested in maybe setting up a paypal fund to help out the family? I'd donate some cash and I'm sure others here would too.

I remembered bigstu's posts about lowering his bike and how he explained his physical stature. Ever since then I'd always experience a warm feeling when reading his posts. bigstu, you were a big man. Our Nortons will always play a tune for you.

My deepest sympathies go out to Rona, and family and friends.

That's truly shocking news. Stu was a charming and helpful gentleman. My best to his partner and family.

It always saddens and angers me to hear of the death of a motorcyclist in such a tragedy. We are a somewhat disrespected breed on the roads.

My condolences to Stus family and widow. I hope they are coping as best as possible.

R.I.P. Big Stu.
