That's really bad news. Condolences to the family and all who knew him and loved him.

Davo Jones passed away this week after he hit a deer in Idaho, USA, whilst attempting the Iron Butt crossing of the USA. Davo is one of the characters of motorcycle riding in Australia and this was his ride of a lifetime. He had ridden across Australia and recently done a 50 hour ride in the USA.

Not been a good week really.
Ride In Peace you two.

Dave, please don't read this wrong, but if Davo died while on the "ride of a lifetime", (through no fault of a drunk or inattentive driver, or any such horrific circumstance), I'd say I would not mind going in such a manner, doing what I love most.

You still can't get around the sadness and loss, but I would focus on the consolation that it was in fulfillment of his dream.

Godspeed to both of these...

Just read the sad news about bigstu. He always seemed to have a useful comment or piece of advice. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Tragic news.

We can only hope there was a big Black Commando waiting for him where ever he ended up.

Very sad to hear this news. I only just saw the post. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the family to arrange a donation link here at the forum. Again very sad-- Please be careful everyone,

Jerry

No worries Paul, I read you right and I'm with you all the way.

I've just got in from a long ride round SW Scotland only to read this. Very sad indeed.
My condolences to their families.
May they RIP

Very sad news indeed. He will be greatly missed and I am sorry I never got to meet him in person. May he rest in peace and condolences to his partner. Ride safe out there people.

Even though I am a relatively new member bigstu in his many posts came across as a friendly knowledgeable Commando owner. My condolences to the family.

Only just heard about Bigstu. Really sad. He was a genuinely nice bloke who has helped us all with his informed and selfless advice on Norton issues. We have all developed an invisible bond with each other, due to this forum, and life without Stu has saddened and shocked us all. Let us keep his loved ones in our thoughts and hope that the pain they must be feeling right now will ease. Good luck, mate, in your ever upward journey.

I've just got back from a long weekend at Netley Marsh and Beaulieu and read this thread. Terrible news. The NOC International rally in Austria was under a shadow when it looked as if Richard Beynen from the Flanders Branch wasn't going to survive after his crash there and now this.

My deepest sympathy to his friends and family. We all know that even our old bikes can get us in to trouble but this really brings it home again.

I would like to extend my condolences to the friends and family of Bigstu.

He may be gone, but hopefully he will not be forgotten.

Just to reiterate what everyone else has said about this extremely sad event, my condolences to Stu's family and friends.
Doe's anyone have any idea of the circumstances of the accident? I know a fork-lift was involved, but what was it doing on the road, was it on the road legaly?
Dave.

Apparently, the company that used the fork lift truck had premises on both sides of the road, so the fork truck had to cross the road on a regular basis.

An accident waiting to happen.

I would like to join the long list of people on this forum to offer my condolences to Stu's partner, family and friends.

I wonder whether the driver has been charged?

i read his posts knowing the content was solid. i'll miss him.

we lose a lot of young guys around here. mostly late at night and on the interstate but an old guy bought it a week ago hitting gravel that washed out of a steep driveway.

sobering. hope stu is riding a celestial norton right now

I just got back from a week away and couldn't believe what I read. It seems unlikely that forklift had any right to be on the road unless it was an Industrial estate. What a waste of a life, he will be missed on here. My condolences to Stuart's partner, family and friends.
