Rioting across the pond...

With the protesters over in the UK not all are rioting, it only takes a few thugs too cause trouble and start destroying things, remember the football thugs of old doing the same thing, people are angry but there seems to be that element that infiltrates the crowds too stir up trouble and run a muck, they get off with thuggery, destroying property and beating up the police and the only answer is to jail the trouble makers for a long time, there are still peaceful protesters who aren't throwing stones/bricks/or anything else they get their hands on and how many peaceful protesters carry monotal cocktails to a protest rally, more needs to be done about these people smugglers as well who are making big money on peoples lives.

Ashley
What I really don't get is the looting and violence against innocent people and the police
Once people start doing that even if it's a minority then the whole protest just falls down

For sure and gives everyone a bad name even the peaceful protesters.

It was kinda funny yesterday the rumour mill was in full swing in the morning saying there were 39 riots planned across the UK for the evening
By the afternoon it was said to be more like a 100 riots planned
Doctors and hospital appointments cancelled etc, shops boarded up
In the end all there was were people turning out in their thousands to stop the "far right thugs"
It was remarkable that the people turned out carrying identical placards with "refugees welcome" no matter what part of the country they were in🤔
The ‘refugees welcome’ is a typical ‘smoke and mirrors’ tactic.

I don’t think you’ll find many people against genuine refugees (look at the nations response to Ukraine refugees for example).

But it’s technically impossible to be a refugee when travelling from France to England. France is most definitely considered a safe state…

Yes I agree on the signs tactic
What a lot of people are saying is the signs themselves were identical
Where did they come from?
It seems funny no "far right thugs" were out rioting in these 100 locations
Not one!!
A lot of people feel they have been played

Question (similar to @Lineslinger's original question): As far as I can tell, "left" (liberal) and "right" (conservative) are similar in the US and UK. However, riots in the US are usually from the "left" and in the UK, from what I see from online "news", are from the "right". Do I have that right?

I would say not, demonstrations (some that turn violent) are usually from the left I’d say. Usually infiltrated and inflamed by a group of ‘professional protesters’ that are left wing. It’s often easy to see if you’re patient, climate rallies chanting ‘free Palestine’ or Just Stop Oil protesters protesting against migrants being housed on large boats, etc.

But the right wing ones are much better publicised !

OK, that makes more sense now.

Further to this is you were a level headed person that wanted to take to the streets to protest about the exponential influx of people in recent years (which is your right to do so),you'd be somewhat put off by the fact you'd be labelled "far right thugs"
The people that are far right thugs do not care about being labelled
The truth is how many far right thugs do we actually have in the UK ? Most people of different races/religion get on just fine in my experience
I'd say anyone attacking someone of another race for no reason
Or trying to burn down a hotel full of asylum seekers is a far right thug
I'd say those that broke into a shoe shop and a bakers etc this week are just "scum" they are just scummy opportunists taking advantage of a situation

Fortunately, in the US, the right is for Law and Order and far right thugs don't really exist. Far right is more about abortion and religion, and I've rarely heard of non-peaceful protests from the right. The US right hates illegal immigration but no rioting that I'm aware of due to it. The takeover of congress was, IMHO, protesters being a herd and following a few. They did some damage, but didn't burn the city down like the left did in several cities. According to the media, they killed people. Here's the fact check:

In a tweet on Oct. 24, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez referred to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 as “a terror attack,” which she said resulted in “almost 10 dead.” She called for “any member of Congress who helped plot” it to be “expelled.”

Journalist Glenn Greenwald commented on Twitter that the claim of “‘almost 10 dead’ from the 1/6 riot is deceitful in the extreme. Four people died on 1/6: all Trump supporters.”

There is reasoned debate about the number who died as a result of the Capitol riot. Ocasio-Cortez is including law enforcement officials who responded to the Capitol that day and committed suicide in the days and months afterward. None of them have been officially designated as “line of duty” deaths, though there is some congressional support for it.

Ocasio-Cortez’s tally also includes two rally participants who died of heart failure — including one who died before other protesters had breached the Capitol. It includes a rallygoer who was initially believed to have been trampled to death in the mayhem that day, but was later determined to have died of an accidental overdose.

In other words, the "riot" participants killed no one! The media and many in Govt. cannot be trusted to tell the truth!

Of course there are extremists on both sides. Like a bar fight, it can be a simple heated debate until the first punch is thrown and then all hell breaks loose!

This clip sums it up better than I can
It's not race hate or anything like that it's simple logistics
We are only a small island

"the huge increase in migrants in the UK over the last decade were partly due to a politically motivated attempt by ministers to radically change the country and "rub the right's nose in diversity", according to Andrew Neather, a former adviser to Tony Blair, Jack Straw, and David Blunkett."

You can always tell who's wrong or who's at fault, by examining the true motivation for their actions....

As far as all the mass migration going on now, it's a reflection of how information has been globalized, so people in underdeveloped countries see the sort of lifestyles western countries enjoy. Very few of the migrants are true refugees. They are all people from underdeveloped countries who want to retain their culture, but move to a country with wealth, commerce, and opportunity. All that was needed to make the migration happen is to let the world know that "we're not enforcing our immigration laws" and millions of people saw a chance to have a better life.

The problem is,... as was said, Everyone who comes brings whatever skills, education, and problems with them to their new country..... When their lack of skill, lack of education, and social and economic problems are greater than their ability to earn their own way, then the social services are stretched beyond measure to secure these migrants food, shelter, and assistance. It's a daunting task for a small migration. Imagine how much money 10 million people needing assistance in the last 4 years costs. If you take the math to the logical conclusions then there has to be limits to immigration if you don't want to suspend the cultures of the current countries being invaded and just let the mayhem continue until everyone is suffering equally.....

Then we will finally have equity, diversity, and inclusion (in the most miserable human conditions imaginable...)

As a footnote I somehow doubt a true asylum seeker fleeing persecution could pay the current people smugglers one way rubber dinghy ticket
It's estimated to be anywhere between £5000 and £15000 depending who you believe
So arresting the smuggling gangs is absolutely pointless as there will always be more to take their place with such a lucrative cargo

It's all a ruse

Seems to have settled down a bit and more peaceful protesting happening now the threat of being locked up for the trouble makers and they will be caught.
I bet these thugs who wreck property and steal/destroy they be the first ones to cry poor if it happened to their property, but then they probably don't own anything worth while.

Like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.

Ocasio-Cortez is an instigator with an irresponsible "look at me" mouth backed up by false, fact-free rants. She maintains office utilizing these methods and thrives on her hostile rhetoric.
One of her former "squad-mates", Corey Bush of the the 1st congressional district of Missouri, my district, a truly vile, hostile person just this week lost her re-election run. That loss was due in no small part to her anarchist views and racist, antisemitic social philosophy.

The pendulum is slowly swinging back toward the middle on an a global level. Citizens grow weary of the social upheaval and grandstanding that create nothing but more chaos.

I certainly hope so. Both sides have good and bad ideas. Those in the middle can see and weigh them. Those to the left or right only listen to their own side.

For instance, the local election advertising here often focuses on abortion. A far right's ad will run, followed by a far left's add, rinse and repeat. I disagree with both of them and especially dislike the lies each tells about the other. I'm willing to debate anyone on the subject but trying to have a thoughtful debate with the far left or far right on any subject is nearly impossible.

I really don't understand the left's CONTINUED brainless abortion rant, when FINALLY the Supreme Court RETURNED THE MATTER TO THE STATES (according to the specific enumerated powers of the fed, which does NOT include abortion control).

Attempting to include the misguided abortion rhetoric in national politics is ASSININE on it's face. Yet, here we are in a NTIONAL election cycle, and that is the liberals' #1 talking point!

Yikes.

You just say that because you want to, but can't, date her 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

(which for those who don't know, it has been a comment she's made to people who criticize her and is pretty hilarious)

Neoliberalism has created a situation where private equity investors can buy companies with minimal input and make the companies liable for the purchase debt. At the same time profit-shifting for tax avoidance is happening. The result is inflation and a cost-of-living crisis. Multi-billionaires do not suddenly come from nowhere.
Have a look on Youtube for Blackrock and Mike Lynch.
It is the same game in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia - SCAM !
Consider the common factors. Border control is just one of them - housing, cost of living, inflation - simultaneous in all four places.
