Removing the remnants of my layshaft bearing after scooping all the balls out . .

The outer case of the original bearing came out of the gearbox shell with some heat from a gas torch and a few gentle taps with a bearing puller. The inner case of the bearing is still tight on the end of the layshaft. I was thinking to carefully cut through this inner case with a dremel and break it off the shaft with a flat screwdriver - is this the best approach or any recommendations for doing this ?

If you can get a couple of thin levers (like old screwdriver blades with the tips sharpened) under it, 180 degrees apart, then you will probably be able to lever it off, as the bearing is usually not much more than a light press fit on the shaft.
