no. you wanted protected jobs. completely different. I've worked when it was available and went without when there was none. never ever blamed my situation on anyone else. was what it was. but I bet you never gave the builders a thought during the last 2 mini recessions. i've never expected anyone to subsidise my job. some of us got through it. a lot left the industry and ended up in asda.
 
I remember voting for Blair in 97, and a few months later bitterly regretting it. Up until now though I have never voted Conservative but for me personally I have no choice as they are the only party prepared to carry out Brexit, even though a majority of the voters in the referendum did vote for it. The interviews above with Simon Heffer and Melanie Phillips are for the most part how I feel, I honestly believe this is the last chance saloon and we have to get out of the house of cards.
I see the way the US has had an improved economy since Trump took control, this just reaffirms my thoughts that the worst thing for politics is professional politicians of which our country and the rest of the world is full of.

Never mind, it comes to us all eventually, dare not fart, may sh.t myself worrying about the youngsters of today ! Ride it, love it and enjoy it while the sun keeps rising through the smog. Aah the smell of Castrol R in the morning. Sod the politics !
 
When I was young, I did not care about politics. But 'don't care was made to care'. I look at my grandkids and wonder about what is ahead of them. The good old days, never were. However back then, in Australia you could get a job anywhere and advance yourself by going to night school. These days, things are totally different. - if you don't conform, you are stuffed. Globalisation reduces everything to the lowest common denominator. What the Asians accept in their societies is probably that.
 
While it true I have few more winters than Freddie , you might be surprised by the open mindedness of some of us “old guys” , I have even tried my daughter’s food which promotes “gut health” , mostly fermented veggies .... not saying I like it but I do smile while eating ... plus while not born button friendly I have just punched out this response , which is out standing !

Don’t knock the fermented veggies/fruit - I have a Rumtopt, a medium sized pot which you fill with plums, pears, apricots, grapes etc from September onwards, cover in White rum and occasionally top up -serve with cream - one of the best Christmas deserts around
Don’t ride afterwards :cool:
