Perhaps somebody should ask one of the TV detectives to investigate
why this thread has the title "Ordering from Andover Norton"
It’s a conversation. They sometimes veer away from the original subject.

It was a joke
$15 more. So double. Which to me would have been worth it although I survived.
It's also a bit slower to me as I live outside of two towns, one is 10 miles away and the other is 8 miles. One has 1 traffic light the other has 0. from those towns the big city, Cortez is another 10 miles away and the other about the same. lol I live in between the two towns in which one of them the 2009 rally was. Quiz?
Congratulations on your retirement and making the move! Off the top of my head, I'd say you landed somewhere between Mancos and Dolores. Nice area! I don't get over there as much as I would like, although I'm not too far away now, on the other side of Wolf Creek Pass. Still, it's about 200 miles over there and I've been staying pretty close to home these days.
Well, back to lurking.
I have had good experience with AN delivery, until lately. A small order took almost 3 weeks to arrive. Normally I get it in a week or less. Also, they ship larger orders with a service that allows tracking. The small order did not have this service, so I was left wondering till it finally showed up.
I have some other comments about the AN website:
1) They recently added Triumph parts to the site. I sometimes find this useful, but I am only working on Nortons so it mostly gets in my way. e.g. I have to scroll down 2 pages in their 'Browse by Model' dropdown menu before I get to get to the Commandos; and when I use search, now I have to take the time to sort through a bunch of Triumph parts as well to find what I am looking for. The top of the webpage has tabs for 'Norton Parts' and 'Triumph Parts' but clicking one does not seem to filter the other out.
2) I think it is an improvement to include the quantities required for parts, but I find that the addition of this information in the drawing section can make it very busy up there sometimes. I think it is enough to just include it in the detail description.
In any case, worntorn is right. Maybe its better to not make it so easy for me to buy stuff!
Since I work on Norton and Triumph and I was never on the right page at AN, I made links to each page I frequently use on my desktop named so I know where they go. For instance, one each for 72, 73, and 74 Norton; Triumph 500 1970, and the various Triumph 650/750 pages. I have all parts manuals but find the AN site to be much easier to use than the actual manuals.Just thought I would comment how 'Norton' does come up first now, as it should.
Thanks AN...
Good to know, last time I ordered parts from Europe it took me two months to finally get them to my door. With most of that time stuck in the USA. I haven't needed to order from Andover, and was reluctant to take the risk and would rather pay a little more to get the same parts from a USA source.Last week, ordered Tuesday, arrived Friday.
How does the 06-5818 Mk IIA chain guard differ from the 06-4837 Mk III item? That is the problem as the slotted chainguard is there at AN and has been for some time but without knowing the part number then it's not all that easy to find.

What with Old Britts and Fair Spares retiring, Jeltz has finally ordered direct from the mothership. A small order to test the waters shiped via Royal Mail MP1 (tracked, 7 days worldwide). DHL was almost 3x the costs. I'll letcha know.
Looks like my fellow Norton owners have picked Old Britts pretty clean. They're showing 0 inventory on a lot of common items. Good work
