one piece rear axle (2012)

Sorry for the delay, first the good news, one piece axle assemblies are done and they look much better than in the pic, $68, Now the bad news, and this is something I should of considered before starting this project.
SHIPPING. more importantly shipping cost from my island here in the Philippines.
the assembly weighs 560grams unpackaged.
I went to the Post office, they quoted me $38 to post to the US
if I ship 4 together then its $55, thats $11 each
I get a good deal with Fedex but its hard for them to give me a good price on small items.
I'm waiting for their reply, but I think the best they can do is either ship one at $41.50
or four at $55. I'll update as soon as I hear from fedex.

Fedex $30 to ship one to the US, I think UK is much the same, Australia is normally a bit less.

So how do we order one? $30 Fedex - well, we knew it couldn't be cheap shipping from the Philippines anyway.

As Jerry is formulating forum sales/resales plans, this would be a perfect opportunity to take advantage, especially since the idea was given birth by one of the forums members.

The scenario (if workable) would be to send a baker's dozen axles at a time to Jerry, he would break them out and drop ship them accordingly. You could pay him for his troubles with the 13th axle that he could sell and keep the proceeds of.

This is only a suggestion...

I'm interested as well but have one question. Does the final version have the machined flats for the brake stay plate, unlike the picture?

Thanks

yep when Jerry gets this up and running , its a good idea, in the mean time a few are sending me PM's to pay the $30 Fedex shipping,
machined flats? do you mean the flats on the stub axle? if so they are not for the brake stay plate, the flats are to stop the stub axle turning when tightening the stub axle nut, or am I missing something?

That is a very good idea, and an excellent way to test the waters of the new shopping cart. I would be in for 2 axle sets. And I am sure the rest would be spoken for quickly.

I'd like to buy one, and would be more likely to do so when they become available in the States from a dealer - Jerry? They look like a product that will sell quite well, based in the initial interest here, so I hope you make a bunch, and they sell like hotcakes!

well, I have stock, but I dont know if or when they will ever be available thru a dealer, I make lots of parts and none are sold thru dealers,

I'm in for one as part of a "group buy," through whoever wants to put it together; Jerry Doe should have first dibs on it though.

By looking at this photo, I have to ask. Is this process as easy as it appears, that is to say, boring and trimming the dummy axel and replacing the axel to fit through?

unfortunately not, the dummy axle can not be modified to act as the spacer,

So is there something missing here in the photo?

Is it because of the diameter or the length of the left side needs to be bigger than the stock dummy(the side where the male axle part that has been removed)?

If you feel I am prying into proprietary information I will back off. It's just that I have the skill and machines to do this for myself and would only require a slight nudge in the right direction.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks. Oh, and put me on the list for one!
